Borrego Springs AM midday....

I went to Borrego Springs today, and too my Panasonic SW20 and Select-A-Tenna with me. I was there from a little before noon to around 2 pm. Here’s a partial listing of the stations I wasn’t positively able to identify at the time, and some of which are still unidentified now:

580 KSAZ Marana, AZ – playing country/nostalgia
620 KTAR Phoenix, AZ – fair with SAT. XESS faint underneath
660 KGDP/KTNN/Spanish? – barely readable on SAT
680 – possibly KNBR San Francisco?
700 – maybe KALL North Salt Lake City, UT? Was running a sports/talk format
750 – barely readable on SAT, no positive ID/format/language verification
770 – barely readable with SAT
780 – barely readable with SAT (which would be more likely, KAZM Sedona, AZ, KKOH Reno, NV, or a Mexican station?)
810 – don’t know if it was KGO or not –was barely readable, as was 680 (and 810 had heavy QRM from 820)
880 – was running an almost barely readable country format, but I doubt I was pulling in KRVN from Lexington, NB.
920 – KPSI Palm Springs. Underneath it was another barely readable station.
1010 – KXPS Thousand Palms, CA
1060 – which is most likely, KDUS Tempe, AZ, or KKVV Las Vegas, NV?
1080 – barely readable with SW20, fair signal with SAT, Spanish, not yet identified.
1250 – probably KNWH Twentynine Palms, CA
1260 – fair with SAT, Spanish language (rules out the 1260 in L.A. area)
1270 – fair signal with SAT (forgot to note language/format), XEAZ barely readable underneath
1280 – grr.. ran out of radio-locator for today… .._. .._ _._. _._ them _._. .._ _. _ … for attempting to charge for it!!!
Anyway… on to the rest of the stations… first, unidentified…
1310 – faint on SAT, Spanish language
1330 – barely readable on SAT under 1340’s QRM
1340 – Spanish if I remember correctly, faint with SW20, fairly good with SAT
1350 – fair with SAT, Spanish language. KTDD underneath barely readable on SAT
1380 – weak with SAT, Paul Harvey at around 1:15pm
1400 – faint with SW20, fairly good with SAT, Oldies/Spanish battling it out
1410 – fair with SAT
1450 – fair with SAT, talk format. KFSD barely readable underneath.

You almost had to have been. There are no other country 880s. What were the songs you heard? Would oldies, AC, or SoGos play them?

I only spent about 30 seconds on each frequency or so, maybe up to a minute or two. I only recognized the music format, not the song. I would be quite surprised to have heard KRVN from a desert in California in the middle of the day, though, using only a Panasonic Shockwave RQ-SW20 and a Select-A-Tenna.
I couldn't spend as much time as I wanted on each frequency, because I was at the mercy of rural bus service, and had an absolute maximum of 2 hours and 20 minutes, and had a couple other things I was doing there, too, and I didn't want to stay two nights till Saturday (I was there Thursday) when the next service to San Diego would be operating. Although, I would like to go there at night sometime and see what I can DX, especially co-channel to other socal AMs.

Is this Anna-Borrego Desert State Park (spelling?) east of San Diego, California? Beautiful place!
