Bost. Radio Watch: How Grinch stole oldies

http://www.bostonradiowatch.com

WODS in Boston one of more than a few oldies stations across the country switching to all Christmas for the next month or so. Am guessing most stations that do this
will be oldies, AC/soft rock, or maybe some standards (are they any left? : ))
Well, bring out those sacred religious classics like "All I Want For Christmas
is My Two Front Teeth" and remember Stan Freberg's remark that "Chri$tma$ has
2 s's in it, and they're both dollar signs"

Didn't Cincinnati's WGRR also go all-Christmas last year??

Other Oldies Stations That Go All-Christmas (Was: Re: Boston Radio Watch: How Grinch stole oldies)

Thanks for the info on WGRR! I was not aware that they apparently didn't go all-Christmas last year.

According to the listing of all-Christmas stations on 100000 Watts.com, KQQL-107.9 in Minneapolis/St. Paul has gone all-Christmas. I believe the WQFM/WQFN simulcast in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is also normally oldies.

One of the most uncomfortable moments in Minneapolis radio last year was listening to Dan Donovan on KQQL work his shift playing Christmas music. We have a musical mind stretch of remembering Donovan at WMEX in the 60's and now at KQQL playing Christmas music. Wow! Repeat after me everyone, Sirus Channel 5 & 6. All oldies - all the time.

I clearly recall when they did that a few years ago. The WGRR base, myself included, hated that format. If I remember, they started the Christmas format even before Thanksgiving, it was awful.
