Note how Jammin's ratings and dominance just keeps getting stronger. Yet you will never see any other station in Boston take them on. The rest of the lackluster stations on the Boston dial will fight over crumbs, minority audiences be damned.

Maybe this will be the book that gets the wheels in motion. Few would say that WBZ runs it's news operation on the cheap. And WMJX, despite questionable music picks at times, has strong and well-known talent. But where else does a station have nearly a 7 share and is #1 12+ but is entirely unchallenged (unless you count rimshot 106.3 WWKX in the southern and some western suburbs), IS run on the cheap and has no really notable programming outside of mornings, and has a limited playlist because of a CHR sister. Maybe it's the sheer lack of rhythmic music on the radio in Boston that is giving Jam'n these insane numbers, because there's no way it's the programming IMHO.

I'm not sure if any companies in Boston have the know-how to launch a competitor, though. Greater Media doesn't seem to know how to do any formats that target non-"at work" listeners in any of their markets. I'm pretty sure Entercom steers away from rhythmic leaning formats, though I'm sure they have a few in their portfolio. The only one that I can think of, is, in fact, CBS, which launched "Hot 93.7" in Hartford a few years back, and put "Jamz 101.5" on in Phoenix a few months ago. But CBS seemed to far pretty well in the latest book... except for one station. But I'm just talking 12+, what do I know?

WOW! WATD back on the chart with a .4, while PLM drops to a solid 1.0

................WPLM is going the wrong way!!!!!!But they do not care---- based on the e- mail I
have recieved from them. It is pretty much we do not care for the overall 25-54, just
women over 30. I just do not understand this radio biz.......I just don`t.
