Boston.com article on WBOS

take note Varulven & local music fans:

>>And Sundays, 7 a.m.-11 p.m., have been renamed "Boston Music Sunday ," with local artists such as roots rocker Dennis Brennan mixed into Knight's show (8-11 a.m.) and beyond, bridging the gap through Holly Harris's always Boston-heavy "Blues on Sunday" (7 p.m.-midnight).

Just because they are going after younger listeners and getting edgier, does that mean that PD Ginsburg has to do the Donald Trump thing to hide the baldness? I would think with the promotion he would want to look more professional.

I hope they don't change things too much. Funny that they mention Shawn Colvin as being more of a rocker when she is definitely singer/songwriter and plays well to the WFUV (New York) and WUMB audience. The opening of her cover of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" sounds just like Riding Shotgun Down the Avalanche.

If you go to BostonRadio Watch, you can catch the EarthFest lineup tonight. It was revealed to VIPs today.

An expanded playlist is always a good thing.

well, that hot dog and chinese food fanatic who works at a sister station down the hall on sunday nites has been claiming for two years now that a certain cbs station with rights to the patriots will drop music and will switch to talk and part-time sports talk soon. perhaps wbos wants to create a big buzz in anticipation of people looking for some 'rock' around town. image is everything. they're becoming a harder rocking background noise station(more aerosmith and less spandau ballet). big woop.

That plan might end up working.... after all, what does WBOS have to lose?

Anybody know where David Ginsburg came from before WBOS? Wonder if he is related to the Tanger family ?

Radio Ink reported this:

Ginsburg New PD At WBOS Boston
Greater Media has promoted David Ginsburg to program director of WBOS-FM Boston effective immediately. Ginsburg has been music director of WBOS since January ‘04. Prior to that, he served as promotions director for the station.

“David has earned the job. He’s put in the hours and demonstrated the passion and leadership to take WBOS to the level it truly deserves,” said Phil Redo, market manager of Greater Media’s Boston-based radio properties. “I couldn’t be happier!”

“David’s desire to win has impressed me from the moment we first met,” said Buzz Knight, Greater Media vice president of Program Development. “I’m proud of what he has done and excited about what he will accomplish in his new position.”

Just knew there is a Ginsburg/Tanger connection through marriage.
