Boston Globe love for WATD

I had a fellow radio fan from Akron OH with me last year and since we were not far from Marshfield
I suggested we take a look at the WATD studios if they didn't mind. I mentioned briefly who I was
and that my friend was a radio fan and they gave us a tour of the place (Ed, etc.) --I was amazed
at the dedication and commitment to what they were doing. An award winning station for many good
reasons!

Ed Perry did the survey which first got WZBC on the air as a Class D 10 watter and than to 1000watts Class A. In the very early 70s others said it could not be done before Ed. Wish the best for WATD and Ed nad from time to time catch peter Black's Blues show on ATD.

Ed Perry is a Hall of Famer! The Old Troll of Rock & Roll is an outstanding newsman, engineer and broadcaster. In a time of cutting news folks, creatives, live DJs, forgetting about local service and dropping the ball on compelling content, Ed, Carol & Family are to be applauded for this great service, delivered with care and feeling. Sadly too many of the insightful pioneers are out, gone or working for companies that are missing the boat. Thanks to The Globe for telling this story.

I moved to the South Shore about a year ago, after growing up in the city and living out of town for a number of years.

I'm in my mid-30s and really do appreciate the service WATD provides. I "worked" many a moon ago in suburban radio and had forgotten how important a station like WATD can be. Is it my first choice? No. Do I listen to it 10 percent of the time in the car? Maybe. But it's still in my presets. I know if I need to know the skinny on something, it's where I'm turning.

And Ed Perry works his ass off. Tell me another station owner who's out there interviewing sources on the air, regularly.
