It reads like some sort of satirical piece but Boston Globe's Andrea Estes is a serious reporter. Still, Estes reports in today's Globe that Jason Wolfe and WRKO are negotiating with former speaker of the House Tom Finneran to replace John DePetro. Wolfe said if the negotiations are complete he will hire Finneran "if he doesn't go to prison."

You can't make things like this up.

Why not go full board and have Buddy Cianci do the morning shift "live from prison"...

the sad thing is, these questionable individuals will garner three times the ratings RKO currently has.
One cannot dispute their talent, misguided as it is.

when you overpay for the sox, you don't have anything left to spend on getting professional talent. so all you got left to choose from is scrap like finneran, upton bell, ghoul sarandis or shemp lauzier.

I think Finneran would be great. Talk about an 'insider', and he could always re-jigger the districts of the Arbitrons to get better ratings ;D
 
I thought Finneran was getting over $400,000 as a lobbyist for some genetic drug research company in Cambridge. He would leave that for a 6 month contract on the SS Entercom Titanic? Where are the lifeboats? Tom Finneran is many things but stupid is not one of them.
But it demonstrates how stupid Jason Wolfe is to even verbalize the statement that he would hire Finneran if he doesn't go to prison.
Please take any sharp objects away from him; wouldn't want him to hurt himself anymore than the self-inflicted wound he just gave himself.

Can anyone stop the bleeding at WRKO?

Tell me you would not listen though? you would. We all would just becuase it is so outrageous conceptually that it would get people talking everywhere. Isn't that the point of that station in particular?.

Yes a day or two to start and you would probably be hooked in. Unlike Mr. Massport,Finneran has a certain energy and a lot to say, he would probably be a compelling host,.......if you could get past the whole criminal nature of his, .......thing.

With a good producer and co-host there would be no reason for him to give up his day job. I for one would love to hear a show like that.
