Boston Marathon Explosion Coverage Roundup

Between 2:15 and 2:30 I checked on the English language news/talk stations and found:

KERA in regular programming.
WBAP in regular programming
KSKY with breaking alerts, then normal programming.
KRLD in normal programming (?!)

KLIF is the only station in "Breaking News" mode carrying the ABC news feed.

I expected KLIF and WBAP to react like that (WBAP, despite crowing about their news operation, is still running talk shows) because KLIF is co-owned and they can put network coverage there. What is KRLD "Newsradio"'s excuse?

You would figure this is now being seen as a terrorist act, all the local stations would be broadcasting some sort of simulcast coverage from Boston-based stations or networks. But alas, if it doesn't affect local news, the local stations don't seem to really care..

I was thinking of KRLD and WBAP but can't tune in right now since it's daytime.  Surprised to hear that no one noticed up in Dallas.  I was near my house when I heard on KODA about the marathon explosion.  I tuned to KROI right away on instinct (just like the News 92 promos want).

KROI has been on ABC (radio) News network coverage except for a break at 14:29 for traffic and weather.  I have been listening to KROI in my house for about 30 minutes now--to compare with the Big 4 network TV coverage--and has stayed with the network the whole time I have been listening (except for TOH ID just now!).

KUHF was on the BBC World News and KPFT was on it's normal weekday mid-afternoon show, so the other two radio news sources are silent for now.  Sad to hear that there is no CBS Radio News coverage in Texas right now so I can compare coverage. :(

KRLD's initial coverage was good as the story developed, so there was no real need to simulcast WBZ as they (WBZ) were in repeat mode until their (WBZ) reporters got a firm grasp of the story. Plus with the ongoing local coverage of the armed standoff with an alleged double murder suspect in Dallas, I thought the coverage of the Boston story was more than adequate...

As the elements of the Boston story firmed up KRLD had many updates from both CBS Radio and WBZ plus KRLD continued coverage of the local Dallas story with on-site reporters.

I tuned to WBAP. Sean Hannity was covering the story, but compared to KTOK in Oklahoma City, WBAP actually covers a significant amount of programming with spots. I really need to get the idea that WBAP is a "news" station out of my head.
