I'm still fairly new to the Boston market (12 years), so I may not know all of the obvious answers to the question I'm about to post...
But, all the talk of what (may) happen at WBZ-TV and of strong Boston-area anchors, it got me thinking: is there anyone left in Boston that makes significant strides to better the Boston area in one way or another?
For me, part of Jack Williams' appeal is not just his command of news, but also his association with projects looking to the betterment of everyday life (most notably, with his "Wednesday's Child" and with Children's Hospital). Lisa Hughes is slowly becoming associated with women's issues, and Susan Wornick is arguably the best-known for looking out for the consumer. (Liz Walker is definitely known for her passion and compassion, though now many will begin to see that in light of her faith.)
Other that that, I can't really think of TV personalities that look to advance both their career and their community. Can you?
