BOSTON/PROVIDENCE market anyone

More Boston simulcasts here in Providence with WGBH taking over WJMF's frequency.

We are now have three Boston simulcasts.WSNE's with Matty. Are they still splicing up the KISS feed?

AM550
103.7
88.7 now
anything else?

Can we see more of this? What about music stations? I would rather hear a simulcast of another Classic hits station on B101 than IHEART radio. That won't happen for some strange reason the Bee's ratings are up.
What the hell simulcast Kiss entirely on WSNE.As long as all the jocks are live.
why not sell off WPRV to Boston group and simulcast WRKO or WTKK or even the HUB.

Kiss 108 is programmed in a far superior manner to Coast, but outside of Matty, only Romeo on Kiss 108 is occasionally live.

Make that FIVE Boston simulcasts......Let's not forget (how COULD we?..LOL)...about that brokered-time left-wing love-in that passes itself off as a "talk-show"..."The Jeff Santos Show"...originating from Boston's 1510, and also buying time on several other New England signals, including right here on Providence rimshot 1320.

I'm waiting to see what 990 up there does for its latest format-of-the-moment ;D That place needs someone in there who knows what the hell to do from the get-go.

Now that you mention it, Dave...

Doesn't 990 have to get back on the air fairly soon...even if only for a few days... so that Peter Arpin can maintain his death-grip on the license?

tick-tock......tick-tock......

Dighton,

The answer is yes unless Arpin wants to try for a silent STA. I think he tried for one some time ago, but the FCC turned him down. Rather surprised Salem hasn't gone after it, as they usually like having 2 signals in a market. Here in Philly, they have 560 and 990; 560 has their religious programming, while 990 has the conservative talk and brokered sports.

Thank You ! ! !

I've quite enjoyed being able to listen in the car to portions of Stephanie Miller and Ed Shultz as I was running around getting errands done today. It was certainly a welcome alternative to the steady diet being served up by WPRO.

Maybe 1320 WARL should just give up....and become a full-time simulcast of Boston's 1510....or revive 990 as a full time simulcast of Boston's 1510.....and be done with it.

I, for one, wouldn't mind in the least.

Great, 2 stations they don't know what to program! 550 biz talk? Seriously? In the least business-friendly state (or 1 of 'em) in the nation?

I think I heard the switch @ 13:36. There was inside baseball talk about the Neal Boortz show with some radio consultant but the host never said who he was nor who the consultant was, not before the flip to a medical show mid-stream.

Huh? What Boston station is 550 simulcasting? WROL would seem to be the only possibility. But WROL is not all (or even primarily) business talk. I had heard that Salem was doing business talk on the Pawtucket/Providence 550.

Dan,
Salem IS doing Biztalk on 550, with the call now WBZS.

I knew that, Dave. But someone had posted (in this thread) that WBZS is a Boston simulcast. That didn't/doesn't make much sense to me. If it IS a Boston simulcast, it would most likely be a simulcast of WROL 950. But if it is a simulcast of 950, it wouldn't be primarily financial talk. Although WROL carries some financial talk, financial talk is a relatively small percentage of what WROL carries. So if WBZS IS simulcasting WROL, what dayparts and programs are simulcast?

Here's the station website: http://www.businessradio550.com/ .Appears to have Bloomberg fare plus hosts from other networks too. So, definitely not a WROL simulcast.

I checked out the Web site. I don't think WBZS is a simulcast of any Boston-area station. In fact, it does not appear to be a simulcast of any station, even though, nationally, Salem has several stations that carry a business-talk format (San Francisco, Seattle, and (I think) Dallas-Fort Worth are some of the larger markets where Salem has business talkers.) Although WBZS does not appear to be simulcasting Barry Armstrong's Massachusetts network (WADN 1120 Concord, WPLM (AM) 1390 Plymouth, and WESO 970 Southbridge), those stations also rely heavily on the Bloomberg Business Radio satellite feed (which mostly or completely originates at Bloomberg-owned WBBR 1130 New York City). Now that Armstrong has fixed the downlink so that it appears to be free of the dropouts and pig grunts that used to plague it every 5-10 seconds, the audio is listenable, even if the content is a turn-off to everyone other than people who are more-or-less completely wrapped up in their investments.

Yes, 550/990 would make a perfect Salem pair. Besides Philadelphia, some others are New York (570/970), Chicago (560/1160), Tampa (570/860/910), Boston 590/950/1150. I don't think I've listed half of them. I think Atsinger must have fallen in love with the concept.
