WROR #1

WMJX unable to knock off the king with their dreadful Christmas music "selection"

IHM has about half the peak AQH they had under a year ago when the had BFast Club ON WJMN and an Urban AC WKAF.

In the meantime the city’s hip hop get more recognition nationally than in this board. https://www.grammy.com/grammys/news/bostons-hip-hop-evolution-how-beantown-diversifying-its-sound%E2%80%94and-planning-future

“Rapper BIA, a Medford native formerly signed to Pharrell's i am OTHER music label, seconds Ball's statement, saying, "Boston has a strong underground hip-hop presence but the city has never dedicated enough resources to growing black or hip-hop culture."

BIA's recent viral co-sign from Rihanna for her hit single with Russ, "Best on Earth," proves the point that local artists often need to achieve consummate visibility in order to be deemed exceptional.“

DREADFUL!

Well, Magic 106.7 couldn't top the ratings this December. Their Christmas music library sucked! I turned to the Sounds of Christmas web site and WCSF in Joliet for my Christmas music. At least they know how to do the holidays right.

Magic won 25-54, key demo. Boring, repetitive, uncreative. Someone had a boombox tuned to 106.7 going at my workplace and I could hear the drek.

Successful. That's what people want in their brief TSL on the way to the store.

"Young man this radio station is a business. It is not here for your personal listening pleasure."--WKRP

Radiodiscussions.com can't have more than a smattering of members -- especially ones who are fans, not radio pros -- who are in the demo that AC and Christmas formats target: women 25-54. We certainly do not represent mass taste in music or in radio programming, as the ratings show. Somebody likes this music and its presentation, a whole lot of somebodys. It's just that, apparently, there are none of them among us or among those with whom we associate. The classic logical fallacy: "Nobody I know likes X. Therefore, X isn't popular."

The difference between WROR and WMJX could be 8.04 & 8.05 and could come down to one meter/responded on 1 day.

You also realize that the "December" rating is not the "Holiday" rating report, right?
(December ratings went from November 7 -December 4).

How do they do it "right"?

In my opinion, people here on this board just do not appreciate the much more traditional Christmas music that Magic had played. Person, I thought it was a nice departure from all of the pure contemporary drab that has been well overplayed in very recent years!

Now quickly, which would rather hear? Bing Cosby's "White Christmas," or Wham's! "Last Christmas" for the umpteenth time instead?

2 thoughts.

1) Groan

2) 6+ numbers mean shite, the real numbers are much different, and when the "Holiday" book comes out I would bet that the WMJX female numbers for 18 to 34 or 25 to dead top WROR's "beauty Queen" numbers and probably most metrics.
