They bounced back a bit, but I wonder is there a Delilah issue ?
Wishful thinking, most likely, from someone way out of her and the station's target demo. She's not a station killer anywhere else and Boston is not a unique market.

The success of the Sports Hub can be credited to the red hot seasons both the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics are having.

If either or both go to their respective finals, the station will be able to enjoy inflated ratings until early June.

That was my exact thoughts. They have three of the four major sports teams in Boston. As you said, two of them simultaneously having strong seasons can't be hurting the station.

Big 103 and WEEI-FM tied for #13. Ugh. I'm sure this is just temporary. Maybe with the Bruins and Celtics having good seasons, WBZ-FM is getting a boost and sports fans can only listen to one sports station at a time. Once the Red Sox season begins, WEEI-FM will likely be top 10 again.

I'm surprised at WBGB. When it flipped to its Almost-Jack format, it initially got decent ratings. Then it fell with Christmas listening, which is expected. It just started going up a little this month. Let's see what happens during the Spring.

When I say it is Almost-Jack, it has virtually the same playlist and a voice that makes the same wisecracks and ironic comments. It may even be one of the guys who voice the real Jack-FM. And the voice describes itself in the third person, just like Jack. But Audacy doesn't want to pay the fee so it's Almost-Jack.

May? Unless the primary voice has changed since I last listened, it is Howard Cogan, the voice of Jack stations.

Imagine signing on a CHR in Boston, then giving up on it before Matty retires. What a dumpster fire of a company.

I still bet that it's making money. No air personalities to pay salaries to. It's tied with WEEI, which I would be more worried about.
Good point.

I'm reminded of the station in New York City that for two decades never got above 14th or 15th in the overall ratings, but was #1 in billings... WFAN in its earlier years.

Or the station that was, for about two decades #1 in Tampa but around 15th in billings... WDUV.

It's often more about "who" is listening than "how many". WFAN was #1 in adult men, WDUV was all people over 55; one had a prime advertising target audience and the other had none of that.

I would theorize that the profound difference between WFAN in early days, and WEEI now is that WFAN was essentially the only station in the market with the format, where WEEI competes with The Sports Hub. With that, even with the competition, I agree with you. Enough of the right audience will keep advertising coming back.
