Boston Radio Ratings Holiday 2018

WEEI-FM 5.7 to 3.7 to 3.0. Not sure off hand what daypart ratings are but less Minihane, more Reimer, and various other hosts may be struggling.

End of Red Sox season, all interest now focused on Patriots, a Sports Hub property. Celtics and Bruins are on the other station, too, although they generate little talk. The Sox' apparent decision to stand pat during the free-agency season isn't helping WEEI any. How much can you talk about the bullpen when management see, mingly doesn't consider it an issue?

Patriots' playoff run has gotta help EEI, right?

Best thing for them going forward, though, would be a Patriot Super Bowl (sad to say) loss with tons of controversial calls and coaching decisions. Or a Patriots win with cheating allegations.

I think this is the first full book after Kuhner moved to mornings. Did the schedule flip confuse regular listeners?

As they say, "it's the holiday book". Still though, Howie no longer has a strong lead in, so PM drive suffers. Kuhner was getting higher numbers in mid-days than Rush ever did on RKO. They hated each other, but Kuhner/Carr was a solid 7 hours of programming. VB is ok, but he's not a strong conservative lead in to Howie.

Kuhner is getting the same numbers in AMD that Kim/VB did. So, flat in mornings, and a big loss in mid-day/PMD = down a full share. Add to that they have one man in charge of three brands, with BZ getting most the attention. Not shocking to see a loss in ratings. As long as there is no loss in revenue, it doesn't really matter. RKO is a conceptual sell.

I am not surprised that 'RKO's numbers slipped after they canned The Morning Show (which most of you hated), and put Kuhner in its place. He admitted, shortly after he moved to afternoons, that he wasn't always on his game during the morning drive shift, and I'm sure that hasn't changed. I agree VB on his own - notwitstanding his bringing on Tom Shattuck or Michael Graham - is not the best decision. VB needs a co-host, and Kim was pretty good at being that co-host.

My recollection is K000nah was off for two weeks around Christmas so its far more likely listeners tuned out as the dude from "talkers magazine" was boring as hell.
