Shaping up as a down late summer and early fall for both sports stations, with the Red Sox slipping toward a once-unimagined tear-down and rebuild and the Patriots struggling to learn their intended offense for the coming season.https://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb013
WROR #1
Post Matty WXKS #2 with a nice gain
WBZ FM with a drop
I never understood why they were so high
WBGB does nice
WXLO still climbing
The overnight shift's success or lack of same is irrelevant.meanwhile, WMJX took a huge hit in the latest book (went from 6.7 to 5.7) - does Boucher's retirement have anything to do with that (or the fact that Delilah - OY! - replaced him??)
While that is a significant change, it still may very probably be a statistical wobble, particularly since summer months are the second heaviest time for loss of meter panelists (after the Holiday period).meanwhile, WMJX took a huge hit in the latest book (went from 6.7 to 5.7) - does Boucher's retirement have anything to do with that (or the fact that Delilah - OY! - replaced him??)
7-Midnight is not overnightThe overnight shift's success or lack of same is irrelevant.
Oops, sorry about that. But that's probably the second most irrelevant time slot in radio today. The listeners and money aren't there after the sun goes down the way they are during the daytime.7-Midnight is not overnight
the PPM does not count overnights, but Delilah is in a rated time slot so she DOES count in the ratings, we'll have to see if it is a one book drop or if they show a trend....The overnight shift's success or lack of same is irrelevant.
Yes, it does. It's a separate table, but not part of the full-day averages.the PPM does not count overnights,
Who has a clock radio today?but Delilah is in a rated time slot so she DOES count in the ratings, we'll have to see if it is a one book drop or if they show a trend....
While I would agree that MOST after dark offerings don't generate huge PPM numbers, WMJX has counted on people falling asleep to D.A.B. at night and having their clock radio go off in the morning to WMJX.....
I know that seems to be an ancient ritual, but I would bet if you looked at the advertisers on the former Bedtime Magic they were not spots for boner pills and adult diapers.... IIRC they got top tier local spots.
I and a few others here still do. But given our "advanced" age, we know we don't count demographically anyway, so if a clock radio works for us, let us enjoy it till the damn thing breaks and we can't replace it.Yes, it does. It's a separate table, but not part of the full-day averages.
Who has a clock radio today?
OK I need to clarify, the 6+PPM numbers as published have a note at the top of the page that it covers from 0600 to Midnight.Yes, it does. It's a separate table, but not part of the full-day averages.
Who has a clock radio today?
but Boucher's shift was not overnight - and after over 40 years of success in that time period - i can't even begin to imagine the shakeup at WMJXThe overnight shift's success or lack of same is irrelevant.
But the published PPM numbers DO include Midnight to 6 AM. In fact, in many "early commute" markets stations sell 5 AM to 10 AM as "morning drive".OK I need to clarify, the 6+PPM numbers as published have a note at the top of the page that it covers from 0600 to Midnight.
And, while having residences in 3 states is not usual, employing new devices is very popular among all ages as they don't have all the possible failures of manually set old-time alarms.I have clock radios, I can't say I use them, I have Alexa devices in my bedroom at the various houses.... when I am in MA or NH I just put the TV on when I wake up.... the joys of being retired I get up when I wake up... but in Florida I use the Alexa to listen to WBZ-A when I wake up.... but I may fall asleep to something from Amazon Music or SXM
Here is a reason for new technologies I'd never heard: an older person with severe arthritis likes asking Alexa to wake them and remind them of appointments and the like because they don't have to painfully twist little buttons and knobs on traditional devices. But as I alluded to in my previous post, the clock radio is a quaint old fashioned custom preferred by people much older than I me thinks.
On many levels. I see Big as a variety of content that they had on several former Audacy/Entercom stations. Additionally it must cost much less to operate. Those are two just off the top of my head.Flipping 103.3 to Variety Hits was undoubtedly a smart move.
With sports betting legalized, I think they will be covered during the summer down time between the end of the NBA and NHL seasons and the start of the NFL season. The reason for the Sports Hub's ratings drop can be summer up in five words:
The Celtics playoffs have ended.
With the Patriots season coming up, their ratings will rebound.
