A few more interesting aspects...

--What is WEEI-FM doing at #12 while the Red Sox are at the top of their division? Why is WBZ-FM, tied for #4, beating WEEI-FM by a sizable margin during baseball season? Maybe in the late Fall or Winter. But in May and June?

--Both NPR stations, WBUR and WGBH, have better ratings than the one commercial Talk station, WRKO, which is now down to #16.

--WJMN is back in the top 10 but WBQT is just behind. I guess Boston can have two successful Rhythmic stations.

--Who would think Country would be #2 in Boston?

Why do people think AMP is struggling?

My personal observation is that the station imagining sounds second rate...too many whooshes and no jingles...while Kiss's imaging (always marked by bright, strong jingles) is memorable and gives the station melodic energy.

Is much of this really about Matty?

I look forward to your thoughts.

Much of it is likely still resentment of another youth-/female-oriented "coveted-by-advertisers demo" format on the Boston dial at the expense of a format that appealed more to older listeners.

The kids wouldn't care about that, though.

Should have used quoted text. I was referring to the perceptions posted on this board that Amp is struggling, not the opinions of teens who might be listening to something else.

AMP's morning show is pretty bad and their jocks are very generic. The station feels like a cookie cutter CHR that could airing anywhere in the U.S. They should have somehow gotten some past or present talent from KISS, Jamn or Mix so that it sounded familiar to listeners. You can say the kids don't care about that and it doesn't matter, but when you are only doing a 2.8 in a format that is doing great in Boston and very well nationally, your station is a failure. I could program a CHR that does a 2.8 in my sleep, all you have to do is "play the hits" and go jockless to get that number. Yea, I know "in the demo" they are doing great I'm sure......doesn't every failing station claim that?!

First off amp uses the same imaging as the station in LA so why is that station doing better and how is the morning show bad TJ used to be on Z100 and so did Lauren one of the top radio stations in the country and used to be heard all over the united states

Morning show isn't bold by any means and doesn't really differentiate itself. TJ seems likeable in the little I've listened but feel like he's holding back his real personality. Loren seems like a nice girl but obviously second fiddle and will probably be the first casualty. Matty makes Billy, Lisa, and the others the focal points, it's part of what makes him better than any other host on the dial.

I predict 103.3 will be WBZ Newsradio very soon following what CBS did in Chicago and SF.

Uhhh... both of those flips happened years ago. SF flipped 5 years ago, Chicago only flipped 2 years ago because of a potential threat that didn't even pan out. I'm so sick of explaining to you people: 5 revenue streams produces more than 4 revenue streams. The flip ain't happening any time soon. It's not happening. It's not happening. It's not happening. It's not happening.

WBZ still makes BANK. It's without a doubt the best AM in MA, and arguably the best in the northeast.

A simulcast isn't happening.

Bruins, plus weak expectations from the start of the season.

1 Oh 3 3 WODS
Country 1 Oh double 3
Talk 1 Oh 3

1) I assume you mean returning to oldies/classic hits. Sorry, advertisers still want nothing to do with it. The stations still in the format are, or will soon be, adding '90s music to the mix and dropping most if not all '60s and early '70s, so you probably wouldn't like the way a resurrected WODS would sound, anyway.
2) The station would be slicing a much smaller pie than it currently shares with 94.5, 96.9 and 107.9, and CHR bills better.
3) Dying format relegated to a dying band, unless it's sports talk, and Boston is saturated with that.

Would CBS been better off taking Mix 104.1 the CHR/Pop route leaving the Mix name. That leaving 103.3 and making it the Hot AC as 103.3 Fresh FM. Seems silly but would this been smart?
