Re:
Someone on a different thread asked why I am not a fan of Entercom's executive management; here is Exhibit #1:

The extent to which WEEI has slipped in Men 25-54 is stunning!
Not only has Entercom ceded (big time) the sports radio race in Boston, but WFAN in New York during the past year has seen its worst ratings in many, many years, the company killed off the wrong Country station in Seattle (the surviving station is now facing an uphill battle), it has several Alternative-formatted stations with terrible ratings, it owns two more major market country stations that have turned into absolute dumpster fires under Entercom ownership (Chicago & Minneapolis), and the company seems to have little clue how to program CHR/Pop correctly in a major market.
Further, I think Entercom erred in returning 101.1 in Philly to its heritage "B101" branding and skewing older with the music. The station was performing phenomenally as-is; 96.5 should've been used to shield 101.1 from iHM's 106.1 The Breeze.
On top of those operational execution challenges, the company overpromised and underdelivered on cost synergies with regard to the CBS Radio merger, showed favoritism toward incumbent Entercom employees (despite the CBS Radio folks being much more attuned to major market operation), and even if one assumes those promised synergies were fully achievable, the company post-merger had too much debt leverage.
So, so far, Entercom has screwed up the following heritage stations since the merger:
- WEEI
- WFAN
- WBEB Philly
- WSTR Atlanta
- WUSN Chicago
- KVIL Dallas
- WBBM-FM Chicago continues to underachieve
- KITS San Francisco continues to underachieve
- KAMP Los Angeles, already weak, is in far worse shape now
- KROQ? (Jury might still be out)
The above is probably only a partial list; I suspect I'm overlooking some stations. Some legacy Entercom stations aren't doing so hot, either. 107.9 The Link in Charlotte is a total dumpster fire and 103.7 Kiss in Milwaukee is nowhere near the ratings force it once was.
