Boston Radio Ratings March 2019.

https://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb013

WROR #1 and gained some listeners also. Go all 80s and gain some more !

WZLX & WKLB & WBQT with nice gains.

WBOS, WKAF & WEEI FM slid down.

I notice WBZ AM, WBUR & WGBH all lost listeners.

WJMN dropped because they got rid of the breakfast club. It was too urban for WJMN. which is more on WJMN. THey made DJ4eign DJ Pup Dawg Santi and Ashlee their morning show

WKAF consistently beating WJMN has proved the urban demographic is easily there. WKAF barely has a budget. All WJMN has to do is foster some talent that SINTashlee and go Mainstream Urban. The black/hispanic population in the Boston area is much larger in the younger demographic than the old. Much larger.

Ashlee had a morning show with Frankie V that failed miserably, it didnt even last a year. How is she getting another shot to headline a show that fast on the same station?

The new show is supposed to be local but Ashlee is from NJ, 4eign is from NY and Pup is from LA... I have been saying on this forum they ought to go urban since 2013. We now see it works and weve seen rating have continued to delcline for jamn for the past 6 years. Its a no brainer but the capital investment is the only deterrent i guess. Iheart was gifted an urban station and didnt invest, they have the audience for a young one and wont invest. WBQT does better because its actually local, and skews more urban.

WJMN posting a book below, 2.0 in a few months would be unsurprising. On the internet the reaction has been 85% negative.

Why do you think that is the reason, instead of the other way around: "They got rid of The Breakfast Club, because the ratings dropped."

Because the numbers indicate that's not the case. Cadillac Jack was on record in 2016 saying the breakfast club wasn't created for show like WJMN. 2.3 Is their lowest book I can recall and I don't think they were ever that low with breakfast club.

Breakfast club is a bonafide syndicated success in almost every market it's in including those with similar demographics to Boston. I know for many it was WJMNs saving grace but it proved to be polarizing. Still they are worse off with these amateur talents. Pup Dawh and Edubble are their true talents hence why they've put Pup Dawg a (20+ year vet) a morning show all of a sudden. They know ashlee and 4eign can't carry a show. Santi is there to help recreate the Ramiro and Pebbles environs.

This is their first book that is not entirely BC in some odd years and it's a 2.3. I'm just reading it as it is. Ashlee failed once before so this makes sense. It's a poorly run station overall. Not responsive to its demographic and/or doesn't know it's demographic anymore. It's like 18th in the market in a young metro and is the only Rhythmic contemporary. You'd have to be exceptionally terrible for these results.
