OK you want (c)rap on the radio? why?
mix tapes, IPODS, Internet, XM or Sirius are not enough for you?
You show me how a (c)rap format is going to make a profit for any station in Boston?
Who is your audience? What products to they purchase most. Remember there is a prohibition acainst tobacco advertising so the makers of Blunts brand cigars are not going to be a source of ad or co-op money. What companies are going to buy ther ad time to pay for the operation of the station and make a R.O.I.?
If there was money to be made in (c)rap, hip-hop, or other format of "music" favored by the yoot of the inner city or the wanna be's that are buying into the thug lifestyle trust me people far smarter than you or I would already be making the calls to flip formats.
From what I have heard, and it has been only by accident, the content of such "music" contains much of the same content that has gotten many people sent to the beach as of late. If you object to Imus and any one of a dozen other personalities using the "N" word, the Ho word, or any other word that when said by anyone that does not consider themselves part of an oppressed people, don't expect any company that has billions of dollars of shareholder money at stake to put content on the radio containing the same demeaning terms under the guise of supporting the hip hop and (c)rap "music" genre. Ain't gonna happen. If you have to bleep it, edit it, drop out words, or otherwise censor it to make it airable it shouldn't be on the PUBLIC airwaves. And there is certainly not enough Will Smith music to program a station for more than 45 minutes. That leaves a lot of dead air. Dead air doesn't get ratrings. no ratings no ad sales, no ad sales no money, no money no talent, equipment, transmitter, antenna... NO RADIO.
What happened to that rap show that was supposed to air on WJDA? I think it was WJDA wasn't it? Someone was going to do it at night? "Boston On Blast" was supposed to be on 3 nights a week as I recall.
