Boston Tea Party pollution

I pointed out in that thread that CBS-owned KYW is doing the same thing with their HD. For a while, they ceased running it at night. Now, it's baaaaaack! And, it's jamming pretty much everything between 1040 and 1080 - adding a high-pitched squeal over the normally strong signal of WTIC.

In fact, the Soviet jamming noise is even audible under the aforementioned WBZ. I know that KYW's jammer isn't going to be audible in the Boston area (it nulls to the NE), but it does go to show that CBS is serious about cramming HD radio down everyone's throats.

I'd love to see the whole idea of AM HD go the way of the 8-track. Surely there are better ways to enhance the sound quality of these stations. AM Stereo (C-QUAM) sure sounded good.

I'm still impressed with the sound of C-Quam AM stereo on 740 WJIB, even on my early '90s AM stereo Sony Walkman plugged in to an iPod FM transponder to send it into my FM car stereo on 88.5.
