Boston's 80's Channel

Not sure how long it has been on the air but WBMX-HD2 is on with all 80's format. I'm on the very fringe of the HD coverage area and can't listen most of the time but what I could hear sounded decent. It seems to originate locally unlike Clear Channel's HD2 formats.

There's no live DJ on WBMX-HD2, so no requests, listener interaction, etc...

Why not have Cortese go into the production studio and throw in some voicetracks?

There would still be no real-time requests or listener interaction. (I suppose he could fill email (or snail mail) requests that way...)

Also, he would have to do it often to keep it fresh, to avoid the same voicetracks from replaying frequently. Do you think they would be willing to pay him more for the extra work to voicetrack their HD-2 regularly? I doubt it, considering that they're not making any money off of it.

If he didn't keep the voicetracks fresh, they would just become essentially drop-in liners, which they do have. I heard one the other day that said something like; "If V-66 were still around... they would be listening to us!"

What would you consider the fringe area of HD coverage?

The area in which HD reception becomes intermittent...
The distance varies with station strength, terrain, conditions...

;-)

I knew the definition...I was just wondering where he was experiencing intermittent HD.

Thanks Eli!

I just tuned into the link, they are playing When The Heart Rules The Mind-GTR, WOW, I haven't heard that one in over 20 years!
