Boston's Classic Rock Stations

Steve N. said:
My long-held contention is that people who like rock DON'T like disco, and people who like disco DON'T like rock.

Sorry to bust up your contention, but I love both! Just not hearing a segue from the Trammps into AC/DC....unless I am DJ'ing at a wedding or a xmas party. I work for a AC station, Classic Oldies station, and a classic rock station, and love music played on all three. Same thing with food - I love ice cream and pastrami, but I wouldn't put vanilla on my rye on top of the cold cuts.

As far as WODS and their music mix, they play the hits (and some misses that fix the texture and sound that they are aiming for) from the 60's thru the 80's. Donna Summer or KC & the Sunshine Band fits nest to the popier rock acts like The Eagles/Billy Joel/Elton John etc, next to say Madonna or Michael Jackson, then into say Chairmen of the Board or 'summthin from the late 60's/early 70's.

Best experience I had lately was meeting Percy Sledge and seeing him sing "When A Man Loves A Woman" and "Take Time To Know Her." Made this 22 y/o Jewish guy from Jersey happy as hell. And it sits on my iPod next to ZZ Top & Stevie Ray Vaughn.

I'm from Southie and grew up listening to everything from Zeppelin to Freddie Fender to Sly Stone to Grandmaster Flash to the Mama's & The Papas to Sabbath to Jonzun Crew.

You might not be musically educated. You don't speak for everyone from Southie.

The point is somewhat valid. There was a time when you could hear Prince and Sex Pistols on the same station.

I miss WBCN.
