It's not needed, there's not enough listeners to support it or it would have been tried already.
Sorry fellas, not sure you're right on this one Smoke; remember this day and this post! LS

I agree, its just not in the current radio station owners best interests to do it.

JAMN is targeted at women (and doing quite well with them if you look at the books) mostly white living in suburbia and Metro Boston. It is not targeted at the inner city or a black audience though obviously they don't mind picking up a little of that too. This is why Rapking and other have complained about their music its because its not targeted at them but Lauren up in Lynnfield or Sue out in Waltham. Now we have been through this a million times on here but we can do it again. It's not that these corporations are dismissing the inner city or a black audience for any big sinister reason. It's just because the audience is not big enough for them to earn the revenue they need to make it in a market the size of Boston. They do research, they look at attempts from the past, and at cities around the country with similar population break downs. They would all love to find a new niche to takeover. But for this to work it needs to gather lots of support outside the city. The Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan etc. audience might be enough for a pirate station but it is really way too small to support the income needs of a major FM. Unless you can come up with a format that will also carry a lot of Metro Boston and outside 128 its not going to work.

I know alot of so called Sue and Lauren whom want to hear Urban A/C music on Boston radio dial . Daytimer Urban A/C 1090 was doing great for over 50 years, until lousy Radio One came in and ruin 1090. A Awful Ownership( or Dumb change) can kill a format or station. Lets see if Clear Channel do something stupid and cut JAMN and Kiss local Morning Shows. If Clear Channel cut JAMN and Kiss morning shows, look for Kiss and JAMN to become garbage just like there sister station Kiss 95.7 in Hartford CT . Kiss 95.7 was Great in the 90's , Now they are garbage. Star 93.7 was doing ok until Greater Media put Chrismas music on 93.7 ( X-mas killed * ) . Urban A/C can work in Boston, but not with Dumb Ownership ( Radio One ) . And just to let you know, South of Boston ( Stoughton,Canton and East Bridgewater ) is Rapking's Neighborhood .

Does any one have the 25-54 rankings?

and is WJMN STILL ahead of WODS in 25-54?

Wait...that really happened? And we have only one station that exclusively plays black music why?

Hip Hop is just one form of black expression. There's also gospel, reggae, soul, jazz, adult R&B, none of which you will ever hear on Jammin.

In fact, I'd go as far to say that Jammin's success is because it plays hip hop for the suburbs, not the black community.

That's the problem. with Jammin hip hop is ALL THEY PLAY!

This is why an urban AC or Rhytmic AC or Urban/rhymic AC is NEEDED!
The problem I have with JAMN is there daily playlist . The same 10 songs over and over again. There Morning crew and 94.5 weekend shows (Friday and Saturday Night Mix shows, Clinton Sparks,Baka Boyz and Tha Backspin ) are great.

I don't disagree with you about Kiss 95.7. It's sounding pretty awful these days. Their morning show is local though, just to clarify. Again, not that it makes any real difference.

My mistake . 93.7 is a Entercom station .
