WTKK 96.9 "Boston Talks" has now flipped as of 10 am after 13 years of doing talk. First song played was Rihanna's "Diamonds" into Rick Ross//Wale "Diced Pineapples"...

Still rumors of a stunt... however I see a focused Urban playlist. We shall see. I LOVE the sound of the station.

Get ready for an exciting week of music on the air at 96.9 FM in Boston. Live and local, the new 96.9 promises to bring a fun new sound to the Boston community!

Beginning today, 96.9 FM returns to music with Power 96.9, Boston’s Hip Hop and R&B station with more surprises to take place during the upcoming week.

Whether it's a stunt or not, Im actually happy for Boston and the underserved Urban audience there. They finally have at least something other then that fake genetic crap (WJMN) to listen to. Enjoy it!!

Also i was rolling at the responses from the clueless on the Boston board who don't like it LOL

If it was just the first part of that release I would be worried. But the fact that they mentioned the brand and the format tells me that this is for real. Oh and they have a twitter page now. https://twitter.com/969powerradio
 
Go Boston....it's about time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Judging by that statement they made, it may indicate some popular Boston DJs returning to the airwaves....IDK.

Melissa and Pebbles, both Boston veteran morning jocks, were recently let go from CC's Jam'n 94.5 (LAME ass station here in Boston, not even hip hop at all).

So far this is the only urban station in Greater Media's portfolio as of now, I'm proud of them for taking that chance and they chose Boston for it too. The days of WILD-AM-FM are in the past, so this can give radio listeners in Roxbury a real music selection as opposed to WJMN. Hopefully they can daypart Power 96.9 and get the 18-54 audience altogether.
