Looking on the impending sale of WNAZ, WNRZ, and three translators to Bott, I've been curious to know if Bott intends to keep the 1160 AM / 103.9 FM nighttime translator duo. There's new indication that Bott may do just that — especially for a while — to make sure money from the commercial operation of 1160/103.9 continues to come in. Sure, the salespeople can convert over to solely "selling" "sponsorships", but even if they do decide to be totally non-com in the future, Bott very well may be counting on retaining the commercial AM at least long enough to make sure there's a smooth transition for funding Nashville operations.
Bott could still sell WCRT after closing on the NAZ Group, if someone makes them the right offer, but that's beginning to look less immediate. I'm still thinking it would make a great value for Citadel, to create a "ZONE 2," to carry the full ESPN Radio schedule, overflow or alternate play-by-play, and pick up overflow dollars on commercial time from the Zone. The nighttime 103.9 signal, right between KDF and GFX, would make a great "dial" position for those overflow games in the parts of town where it can picked up. Not that one of the Big Cs is looking to buy an AM in market 44.
