Bottom Line:

HOW MUCH ???
How much does it cost
(Monthly: __________ ) ????

and, then of course, the annual cost...well, i can
multiply/figure it out for the year..but, Seriously:

-How Much does it cost to do it right ?

(Things like an # 800 tollfree number, and
other 'perks' will not be included/itemized in this example).

-And, costs of "dj's" and various air-talents would be, for this
example will be zero. I know, you get what you pay for,
and at "free of charge" it may hinder the overall quality
of the station. However, it is easy to figure out how
much to pay people for their work..that is some thing I can
do easily do on my own.

The point of this thread, is to find out the 'start-up' and operating
costs, of a decent internet station, that may yield up
to 75-100 listeners at any given time.
*And, while they listen, can actually HEAR the signal, with little
or no buffering, difficulty, or such a low quality it drives people
away. And, not to forgot people actually being able to
!! hear it!! with out having to jump thru hoops by
d/loading the "special" player but be freely able to use the player one has on their own PC.

I am "just wondering"..but am very interested to know --

how much it costs-on average- to register a domain, get a
server to -broadcast music- that is commercially succesful,
available, etc..etc..and make it some thing
worth while in cyberspace to listen to ( now, the imaging
would be 'free') because I would do in house production.

Also, I would be able to have a creative-dot com address..
In order to keep costs low, a "dot-fm" or unique domain
(carrying a hefty price tag) would not be necassary...

Okay, so how much?
Any Ideas ??

Any one ?

It all depends what you want to pay for bandwidth.

You need about a $1000 computer and to use it for a server for efficient speed and most important. A good motherboard. Don't use an HP or gateway.
2.8 Ghz multi thread is good enough. For 24 hour round the clock.

Get Vonage.

You don't need Disc Jockeys unless you fell you need it. Good automation system for $160.00 average will have you lay off your DJ's.

Buy or set up enough bandwidth for 10 people. If you peak out ,you can always upgrade. it's called planning, and budgeting.

You buy the right equipment on your side, it's up to them what they'll spend on their side to pick up your broadcast. If there on a dial up , that's their problem. Just don't upload heavy. 128 is more then fine.

No more then average 200.00. But if you go on Live 365 or raincast, you can use their server. But you still need a host for your basic web site.

No....once you register with the host and pick a domain name. You got it. No one else can use it unless your a .com and their a .net, .org etc.

Add what I told you all up. It's up to you for the music, player, DSP, mixers.
You can get it in software or hardware. But a software automation system will save you alot of accessories.
