Bouce TV coming to Tallahassee Florida

I know this is a radio board for North Florida but just to let u know that Tallahassee's ABC 27HD (WTXL) will flip 24/7 Weather to Bouce TV Network on WTXL 27.2 over the air and on Comcast Cable channel 209. It said coming soon to Tallahassee. No word of what date would start.

As an employee of a Bounce affiliate, it's good to hear this network is growing and adding new stations. It's a great service for its target audience, many of whom watch over the air TV.

I know some of u wanted to keep the 24/7 weather but alot of tv stations beging to dropped 24/7 weather on thier subchannels as most tv stations have thier local weather on the app on your cell phones from ur andorid and i-phones for free. WCTV,WTXL,WJHG,WMBB, and many others have free apps for your smartphones.

Very true. I did think of that AFTER I posted. :-[ More entertainment channels OTA is a good thing.

How many TV channels can a station carry?

The record goes to KAXT in Santa Clara, CA, with 20: 13 video, 7 just audio.

A station can, very carefully, broadcast two 720p HD signals, as WAWS does in prime time.

Also in Jacksonville, WJCT and WJEB put out five channels each. 7.5 is music, with slides of upcoming programs, and it disappears when there is an HD show on the main channel; while all of 59's streams are video and audio--but none are HD, I don't believe.

I saw it too. It's a promo running on WTXL.

There is no theoretical limit. You get 19.2MBps of bandwidth, which you can divide up however you want.

However, the more channels you carry, the more heavily you have to compress them to get them to fit. It's a bit difficult to quantify how many is too many, as it depends on the programming. Programming without much movement (weather channels, program guides, etc.) compresses VERY well. Sports and other things with a lot of motion don't compress so well. Some stations broadcast audio-only channels, which require almost no bandwidth compared to video.

I think most engineers would agree more than two HD channels or more than six SDs is going to be pretty ugly. Some are pickier.

Just got some info. That Bouce TV will starts on March 1st 2012 on WTXL-27.2 (over the air) and on Comcast Digtial Channel 209 the 24/7 Accu Weather will be dropped.

Bounce TV is coming soon to Tallahassee, Valdosta, and Thomasville. You will be able to watch Bounce TV on:

•Digital channel 27.2, over the air
•Comcast on channel 209
•Medicacom on channel 90

Also if u missed your 6pm newscast on WTXL-DT ABC-27 they will have the 7pm Newscast on Bouce TV
WTXL News on Bounce
Weeknights 7 PM ET

Local news, our way. Anchor Mika Highsmith, is joined by meteorologist Casanova Nurse, and sports director Brad Dalton to bring you the latest in local news, sports, and weather.

Got some info from WTXL-ABC 27HD On March 12th is the date that 27.2 will be Bounce TV. Also good news for those weather fans WTXL will keep 24/7 Weather Now will move to 27.3 My bad since other TV stations dropped the 24/7 local weathercast to other TV Networks. Comcast will move Weather Now to channel 209 to channel 210.
