Bought a new car with XM, what is going to happen with this merger?

I'm new to Satellite but like what I've heard so far, but what is going to happen with this merger? Is my Satrad receiver going to be obsolete? Will I also be able to receive Sirrius programs on it, the full compliment or just selected programs if so? Are they going to make a receiver that receives both if this one won't? Are they going to include that Big Bomb HD in them? I wouldn't touch one of they do.

Hi KB101KL!

Love your signature in ref to your 20 year old boombox! Boomboxes and radios in general seemed to have more sensitivity and selectivity in those days that the one made today.

Right now for an additional fee (believe it's an extra 4.99 per month per radio), you can recieve the "best" of Sirius (best, being their term, not mine!) I believe the best of Sirius now includes the Playboy Channel, Howard Stern, the Martha Stewart Channel and the NFL programming (general NFL programming and pregame shows; I've read from some posters that the actual NLF games will not be available due to contractual restrictions; but I'm not sure that is the case.

I also understand that the al la carte program will require a new receiver.

As far as the IBOC/Hybrid Digital scenario, I believe Congress (both the current Congress and the new one after the elections) have more than enough on their plate now, without having to take time away from campaigning and the economy and the wars to mandate incorporating Hybrid Digital chips in all satellite receivers. I thinking that "brilliant" (sarcasm)proposal will be on the back burner for years. (hopefully)
