BOUNCE TV COMING TO WATL 36

So WATL 36 has been through several network changes in its existance. It started out as an independent. It has had the following affliations:

Fox
WB
My ATL TV
Bounce

Did I leave any off? What were its best years with the different network affliations? Please talk among yourselves now.

Bounce will be on a sub channel though, not the main one. Just as WSB has negotiated
with cable to carry Me-TV, I'd say there is a good chance WATL will do the same. I really
don't see how cable can say no, as Atlanta is the home base for Bounce and there will be a
lot of interest especially with the African American community.

Anyway, just get a Home Depot $25 antenna and if you're within 10???? miles outside 285 you'll
get it. GET THE ANTENNA ANYWAY. There are a lot of digital sub-channels now and the variety
and quality just keeps getting better.

We bought one of the flat, square digital antennaes that mount on the wall. It was very handy in a storm last year where we lost cable for 48 hours. There is a lot of programming out there for free.

Cool, i'll get one soon especially since my DirecTV goes out whenevver a drizzle of rain occurs. Has anyone seen any shows and programs Bounce will carry?

IMO, the best years of WATL were in the 80s and 90s when it was a scrappy try-anything independent. They used to run anything from sitcoms to kung fu movies to Elvira to dozens of cartoons and plenty of movie packages. It was always entertaining. Early WTBS and WDCA-20 in Washington were similar. WBFF-45 in Baltimore and WVEU in Atlanta were somewhat in the same vein.

UHF independents were where the fun was in those days.

All of that daring and fun went away when these stations started being somebody's affiliate and merely refeeding network signals instead of trying to program their own lineups. Kind of like the way radio lost something when stations went to automation and network feeds programmed from out of town.

Most of those little square or round antennas only have a decent range of 20-25 miles if your lucky. which is about the same as a $5 set of rabbit ears. It's best to get a traditional "old fasioned" outside antenna. These so called "digital" antennas just don't work. There is no such thing as a digital antenna. you can't shrink an antenna unless you're wanting to watch only UHF within sight of the tower. For VHF and anything over 20 miles out you need a "real" tv antenna.
