I've noticed lately on the Cowboy games that Brad has become quite cynical in his approach. Is he unhappy? His tone seems downright negative and even if the Cowboys have one bad series, his demeanor goes straight to disgust. He also cannot contain his condescending attitude on the air. It's as if he's always saying "..there, they did it to us again!"

Questioning a play call or laying it on for an obvious mistake is one thing, but Brad seems to be trying to make a point out of how obviously bad the Cowboys are...which is interesting considering they are currently in first place in the NFC East!

Above all, he is guilty of trying to put himself in the story vs. report the event. I get the feeling that his entire motive is to say "look, I know more than these guys, and here's another example." His arrogance is beginning to show a bit too much on the air.

I don't think it's just Brad. The Great Tuna has shut the local media out of the club house and almost all contact with the players and coaches. The media has very little contact with the players and no access to the actual practice once it starts. Parcells has not done a one on one interview with ANY media person since he's been here. Sham relied heavily on his friendship with the players and the head coach/coaches in the past for broadcast information. I think part of what you are hearing is his frustration on being shut out. IMHO. He is not the only one who is unhappy with this.

I think most of the reporters are afraid of Bill. If you listen to the daily press briefings no one and I mean no one challenges him. Nothing but softballs thrown his way, usually by the two female reporters. Ray Stone used to be the only one who would challenge him on anything and I have not heard him any this year. The Ticket had some interns who threw some hard stuff at him last year and they got swatted out of the park. No one will challenge him for fear of being banned from the "Ranch."

You can't report the story if you can't get in the building.

I've always liked it when the announcers weren't afraid to criticize the team. I'm a life-long Cowboys fan but when they suck I want to hear it. When there are glaring problems tell me. I'd rather have that than the homer style of announcing that's the norm.

It sure beats Brad being a constant cheerleader for them in the past. I rather hear someone objective and call the game,not cheer them on. Leave that to Scott Murray. Murray was so bad about Cowboy stories that you'd swear if allowed he would report on their daily bowel movements.

Probably true, but if he shuts you out, what are you going to write/report about?

Musers and Norm were talking about that this morning. Notice that when the team wins one, Bill takes all the credit for it (I came up with the gameplan last night). When they lose, everyone else is to blame. Bill is arrogant, ego centric and doesn't care about anything but himself. I hhonestly doubt he really cares about winning, just drawing a nice paycheck and acting like a bad Vegas lounge comedian where, by the way, there's a two drink minimum. And thanks to his non-relationship with the media, he really is the one in control.

Brad doesn't work for the Cowboys, he works for the radio network. Let him fire away.

Actually I do believe that Brad Sham does "Work" for the Dallas Cowboys, because if you remember, back in 1995 when Brad worked for the Texas Rangers, he was "removed" from the Cowboy Broadcast- about the same time that Dale Hansen was punched by Barry Switzer during summer camp.. and was fired by Jerry Jones... so in a way Brad IS controlled by Jerry and the 'Boys, as well as Infinity.

They both got in trouble during the last pre season game that year due to some comments about scissor-gate. (when Michael Irvin stabbed another player with a pair of scissors)Brad basically called Jerry a liar on the broadcast. Hanson left before the last game that year I think.


Love him or hate him after hearing some of the stuff on BaD Radio's Homer Call of the Week I'm glad the Cowboys have Brad Sham.

Brad has had this attitude in real life for a long time. He's just getting older and letting it show more on the broadcasts.

It might be useful for denizens of Valley ranch to recall that Parcells' teams have won two NFL Championships. The same number as Tom Flores.

This isn't Lombardi or Halas were talking about here.

As I recall, Brad stepped forward to defend Dale after Hansen ran afoul of Switzer and Jerry. Dale stayed, because even Jerry knew better than to mess with Dale at that point in Dale's career. Brad's decision to call out Jerry either cost Sham the job or he chose to do baseball (depending on whom you ask), and he was replaced by Dave Garrett. When that didn't pan out, Brad returned...but Dale had departed in the interim.

To me, the best combination was always Verne Lundquist on play-by-play and Brad on color...but Brad and Dale had an awesome chemistry. Not sure I hear much that's markedly different, but I imagine the Parcells regime has a lot of people deeply frustrated.
