Bradley Jay - Please Go Away

Wow...Sunday nights' topic was a new low for Bradley Jay, and he is capable of hitting "lows" on a regular basis. Should the astronaut husband of Gabby blast into space...? yes or no...

And it was a "my way or the highway" type of conversation with him - if you had a different opinion, Bradley resorted to name calling & belittling to the max...

I agreed with many of the callers, who basically stated that it is really no one's business except for the two individuals involved. Certainly not cutting edge talk show material by any means...

I particularly enjoyed the one caller early on...I believe it was Nancy in Wilmington...

She was questioning Bradley Jay - "How did you get this job...?" LOL - Of course he hid behind the dump button.,,,until he could think up a snappy retort minutes later.

Many of us know the only reason Bradley Jay got hired at 'BZ is that he has a relative that works for the station & they got him in the door. I suppose they could hire a no-talent fairly cheaply & they needed a seat warmer/fill material, and Bradly fit the bill perfectly.

The sad thing is, he has such an incredibly high opinion of himself that it is ridiculous, almost laughable. It is no secret that I am not a huge fan of LeVeille either, but Steve is leaps & bounds over Bradley as far as professionalism goes...

Just sayin...

I was switching around while we were driving home from our friends' Super Bowl get-together and wondered if he'd be talking about the game. I caught the end of his call with Nancy and chuckled at her comments. And I agree--he's pretty bad. He should go back to DJ-ing on WZBC where he was OK.

I had the "pleasure" of meeting Bradley J when he was auditioning/filling in on WGAN a few years back. The most hilarious thing about the guy is that he has NO idea how bad he is, or what other radio folks think about him. He really believes he's a star.

Well, to add to the comments...I almost forgot...

Have you guys heard him the previous few weekends? He is on this kick of being a self proclaimed "guardian angel" while he is out in public, which is basically consisting of him just being rude to folks...

An example from a few weeks ago was when he was riding a train; some young guy wouldn't move his bag/feet off the seat next to him so a lady could sit down, & Bradley Jay took it upon himself to intervene, which might have been okay - if done with tact.

From what Bradley stated - he "smarted off" to the guy in a nasty manner about getting his $%^&*(#$%^ bag/feet off the seat, in which the guy replied in like manner; Next, Bradley stated that he kicked the guys feet off the seat & told him to move it or $%#$%^&^*...

There have been several stories similar to that over the last month or so.

Is that a proper response to a situation like that in the Boston area? I would be very hesitant to accost anyone in that manner, lest I end up with a broken nose...or worse...

What if it is some nut case that he ticks off, who happens to be carrying a weapon? A couple of callers tried to reason w/ BJ, but he just didn't get it.

Oh well...

I would love for 'BZ to give Morgan White Jr. a time slot, preferably the overnight Mon-Fri, maybe shift Steve to the weekends...as I personally feel he is getting a bit full of himself as well...although he is easier to tolerate than BJ... ::)

I don't find BradleyJ nearly as bad as his promo (we know all talk is right) which is bad.

Speaking of BZ, I've yet to hear a host other than DRea give the toll-free number. Not that I've listened to all that much talk but I did hear LeVellie say he wouldn't use it until he got the memo. Maybe it's only for Dan's show?

Jordan has given out the number a time or two. Steve is doing a bit with it, saying he won't give the number out now since no one needs it anymore, with free night/weekend phone plans, etc.

Steve asked for it 20 + years ago when all the other stations had a toll free line except BZ...

Isn't the nimrod Bradley J related to someone at 'BZ ? I guess if you ain't got talent or actual skills, it pays to have connections ! No wonder radio is dying...

How he lasted so long on WBCN is beyond me, it certainly wasn't on his on air talent, then for him to jump across the CBS street to another CBS station in the same market when "The Rock of Boston" assumed room temperature.... who does he know the President of CBS

Didn't he spend a short period of time down in Washington at XM too?

I had never heard of this guy. But because of this thread, I'm going to listen this Sunday. See what you did.

You're all haters. Bradley can be brilliant. He also travels a LOT - he's been all over the world. I heard him on 'BZ and thought he held his own. He signed BCN off in an enthralling final show, he was perfect. His choice for BCN's last song ever was genius. His videos for 'BZ are engaging. Bradley's not conventional in his approach, I've always found that refreshing.

So what's the point of this character assassination? If you're not a fan, don't listen. Pick on somebody who's full time and draws a huge salary, Bradley's just trying to make a living like the rest of us.

It's not character assassination, it's an opinion/assessment of a *broadcaster*, and I use that term loosely in this instance... Since radio stinks to heck on the weekends of reruns/infomercials & the like, it is refreshing to have a live body in the seat.

It would be more refreshing to have an intelligent live body in the seat. Professionalism would be a plus. Just callin' it like it is.

I'm with Signpost on this one. The 'BCN finale won me over. I've always thought Bradley was ok on 'BCN over the years, of course he always was a little "weird", but like SP said, he hit it out of the park w/the finale, he knew the music and was entertaining. No one else was more perfect for that role than him. With that said, I haven't heard his WBZ gig YET. I'll give it a listen this week. Then I'll make my final judgement. But in the meantime dragging the guy across the coals ain't cool either...Granted he's not for everyone. Hate him if you want but..

I tried to like the guy at first, I really did...His "smarting off" to the callers & hiding behind the dump button is what probably turns me off the most. And I am not just singling him out, either;

For example, I don't care for Michael Savage's style of smarting off to the callers & constantly talking over them as they are trying to make their point. That is very unprofessional.

You can label it as their own personal style, I just call it plain downright rude.

I agree. Hanging up on callers is abusive, tells me the conversation is one-sided, and is why i don't spend much time with talk radio. But there's a big difference between Bradley, fairly new to talk radio, heard only once a week Sunday nights.. and Michael Savage, a successful, full time national syndicated show host. If Bradley's using the Savage playbook, has you hating him - but listening, then he's being way more shrewd than you realize.

I don't agree with Bradley J's point of view a lot of times, but I don't mind hearing him fill in or in a weekend shift. He isn't typical AM talk material by any means. It might be a mistake putting him on a station with such a traditional audience, but that's not his fault. I say, Bradley Jay- Please Stay.
