Brady Bunch re-boot?

According to CBS News, the Eye's production studio is working with Vince Vaughn in developing a new version of The Brady Bunch, this time centered youngest son Bobby as a divorced dad who marries a divorce woman with children of her own.

Vaughn, his sister Victoria, Peter Billingsley (I believe same one who played Ralphie Parker in "A Christmas Story"), and Lloyd Schwartz (son of Sherwood) are serving as executive producers.

Personally, I'm iffy on re-boots, especially when it comes from old TV shows. I do like, however, that's taking a different twist on the Brady franchise. I don't see much high hopes for this one, but knowing CBS, unless it's an obvious colossal failure, I could this new version of the Bradys lasting a season at least.

Great, now Bobby is the dad on BB-TNG.

Unless they move to San Diego and the new show also has six kids and a maid. Then it's BB-SD9.

If Bobby's driving a Plymouth minivan, it could be BB-Voyager.

It doesn't mention whether Mike Lookinland will reprise the role. In the 1989 "Bradys" miniseries, Bobby was partly paralyzed after wrecking his race car. I don't remember if he overcame his paralysis; I didn't watch all the episodes since it sucked tremendously.

CBS also announced revivals of "Bewitched" and "The Rifleman," though neither seem to appear on the fall schedule.

Looks like Hollywood (television and film) is continuing its contribution to the greening of the environment. Instead of developing new and original material, it keeps recycling the same garbage. I hear there are plans for a new sitcom/sci-fi/western/reality series based on the old Charmin commercials, starring Mr. Whipple.

Well that would definitely be a recast because actor Dick Wilson, who played Mr. Whipple, died a few years ago. ;D

Bobby Brady never overcame his paraplegia during the drama series, since it was cancelled after 6 episodes. It's possible Bobby Brady might be fully recovered from paraplegia by the time the new series takes place. I however am not sure I will watch this show, as it seems to me it's trying to be the 2010's version of The Brady Bunch. I just wonder if any of the other characters will make guest appearances. We know if Florence Henderson makes an appearance, she'll be written into the show as a widow, since Robert Reed died in 1992, unless the show decides to use someone else as Mike Brady.

CBS? This idea is so bad, it belongs on NBC. ;D

Not necessarily. Carol Brady, by now, could have remarried yet again, perhaps a man named Smith with 3 boys, 4 grandkids, and 5 greatgreatkids of his own. Now THAT'S a bunch! ;D

She's still alive, 86 years young, but she'd probably need her own housekeeper at this point.

The premise lends itself to be a mid-season replacement at best. It will probably be green-lit for the 8:30 time slot for either Monday or Thursdays. If it works it could be a time slot partner with "Rules of Engagement." If not it joins the ranks of "Rob!" more recently and "The Bradys," "The Brady Brides," and "The Brady Bunch Variety Hour."
