Just caught the tail end of a news story on Fox 26 that mentioned something to the effect that Brandi Garcia is out at the Box. Anyone have any details?

I have to say, if you're attempting to bury an artist or deny him publicity, this seems to be the absolute worst way to go about it.

radiogooroo said:No, it would not. How the hell could it? If any radio group were to do such a thing, I wouldn't expect them to go head to head with the heritage "lifestyle" hip-hop station in town.
If there's a hole for another urban station, it would be one with a presentation that's more palatable to caucasians and 2nd and 3rd generation latinos. If there's a station in Houston that would stand to lose from such a station signing on, it would be Hot.
mr.ric said:I said it before and i'll say it again: If anyone should be fired from The Box, it should be Nnete who started the whole mess in the first place.
And djjfive is right about The Box. Generally, it's just not what it used to be anymore. As a matter of fact, I cant listen to The Box that much anymore. Stations I listen to more are Hot and Majic (for my R&B fix)... but mostly Hot. Otherwise, the iPhone.
And as for a new competitor for The Box, "sniff, sniff" I smell one hell of a selling opportunity for the radio companies.
Question: "If" CBS ever took that opportunity, wouldn't it help compliment Hot in some way?? Just thought about that, but wasn't sure.
radiogooroo said:The fact that CBS only owns 3 urbans nationwide should tell everyone something about the likelihood of them signing one on here.
If they were going to blow something up, they would go after some of that KODA money. KBXX is short money by comparison, and urban is hard to sell in Texas.
mr.ric said:The fact that the last few AC stations CBS launched are getting crushed by their competitors in New York, DC and Chicago should tell everyone something about them signining on that format down here.
Why bother launching a station that would eventually get the same share that KILT, or MEGA is getting now?? Go where the REAL potential is at, where one station is already making poor choices that are making them weak, and just take the numbers.
Actually the best way to accomplish this would be to flip KLOL 101.1 to Jammin Hits KTJM would have done better in the ratings if it were on a strong signal, but hip hop or Urban well Cox did that in San Antonio with Power 106.7 and it failed. However if Cox programmed it like the now defeunct 106.7 Jamz or a short playlist like 106.9 the Point it is doom to fail.radiogooroo said:mr.ric said:And can I get an answer on if CBS started a new urban station, would it benefit Hot in some way??
