Brandmeier mornings on WCKG?

A

Airwaves01

Guest
Has anyone else heard this news yet and have been able to verify it? I came across news on another forum that Brandmeier is certainly coming back to take over mornings on WCKG to replace Stern. He's supposedly going to start in September.

I know a lot of what is said is pure rumor or speculation, but this was coming across as if it was a done deal, just not officially announced.
And if this is true, do you think Buzz would have any interest in rejoining him?

Anyone?

This might be more true than you know! According to a NY paper David Lee Roth (yeah, the Van Halen dude) is supposed to take over for Stern in September. The dates at least seem to line up.
______________

R&R had an article, IIRC, that said Stern will be out early
so that he's gone before the fall books. That way advertisers
can't claim Infinity inflated their numbers with Howard.

I saw the post at CBR, but when I went to Johnny B's Board (if
it IS his board) I saw nothing to confirm this rumor, and there's
nothing at www.wckg.com to indicate this, either.

I think everyone is celebrating a bit early, if you ask me...

I wonder if he does take that slot if he'll actually move to Chicago this time?

If Brandmeier has mornings on CKG, the lineup could be:

6-10 Jonathon Brandmeier
10-2 Kevin Matthews
2-6 Steve Dahl

What retro late 80's-early 90's line up!

The Loop anyone?

Right, you will never see Kevin Matthews back @ CKG. and, BTW Dahl is on from 2-7pm.

I think Brandmeier is a horrible choice for mornings. He has been out of the game way to long, how can you go from Howard To JB? The only way CKG can even stay a float is if they have a syndicated show on. Otherwise they won't be able to compete with the rest. Along with that, they need to start advertising their "other" syndicated radio shows (ie. Loveline, O'Reily, etc)

I really can't say. But I will say that I've read that he loves living
in Southern California. And hates the climate in the Midwest. One of the
reasons why I left Chi-Town. (I do miss Gino's East pizza though) When
Johnny B. was on CKG, he was broadcasting from a studio in Hollywood.
I'd say, IF this would be the case that JB comes back to CKG, he will be doing
it from LA. Just my thought.

Instead of continuing with a loser format. Why don't they flip 105.9 back to oldies. CKG's numbers are awful with Stern, just imagine how bad they will be without him. Infinity got national attention by flipping from Oldies to Jack. Most of the publicity was negative, so flipping back to oldies would give Infinity lots of good publicity by making them look like they made a mistake by throwing 20 years of heritage down the drain and that they really care about the listeners.

Watch what happens in Detroit. If they flip the oldies station in D-town to Jack, then forget Infiniti's Oldies. But you are right! 105.9 will be Oldies in a few months if J.H. decides to save some face.

Same thing goes for NYC's Blink-FM or whatever they are calling that terrrible station. THis might all be a big stunt.

P.S. The Detroit station might be the only oldies station they keep, It is the home of Motown.

Depends if they want to go head to head with ABC's Jack, I mean "Doug" in the Motor City. (Yes Detroit already has an Ipod/Jack/Shuffle format.)

Never happen, that is called admitting guilt and a brusied Ego. And they are all hyped to go forward with their 104.3 HD2.

They are hoping people dont tune out when Howie is gone. Good luck.

WNEW is failing, maybe as not as bad as the previous formats, but, not a super performer. Stunt, Nope.

Nothing is sacred. Not even WOMC is safe after WCBS (legend in itself and prob the most famous calls on the air today) was blown away!
______________

I have to back Z up on 105.9. If the rumors about Brandmeier
doing morning drive at `CKG are true, then scratch my theory
about 105.9 ever flipping to oldies. Z`s right, Infinity will
never concede their error. Harvey Wells may be the best last
chance if 104.3 blows 9-FM completely out of the market with
JACK.

I heard a great oldies song today, IN Dreams by Roy Orbison
on WRLL. It saddened me immeasurably to know that song will
never again be heard in glorious FM stereo. Man, it`s a
bitch to get old.
