BRANDON OUT AT WMXJ AFTER 20 YEARS

Wow, this was a surprise. One day shy of his 20th anniverary at Oldies (oh, sorry, Greatest Hits) WMXJ, Eric Brandon has been let go due to those common "budget cutbacks". Brandon was one of the original Majic jocks from the mid 80's. It's a shame that companies like Jeff-Pilot (now Lincoln National) have no understanding as to "heritage". You can't hire it. Heritage stations need heritage jocks. Watch as Majic starts it's decline. Next to go? St. John?

yeah it sucks that a heritage jock was let go, but it has to do with seniority... the longer a person stays with a company, the company has to pay them more, so therefore they decided to get rid of whatever they're paying the most on, they can save thousands a year by hiring a new jock with lesser experience or by opening up 4 or 5 hours for cyber jocking.

I'm up in Jacksonville and visit South Florida often enough during the year to listen to Majic and I must say I always liked Eric's on-air personality. I tune in via streaming every once in a while and usually caught Eric doing his Sunday morning show. I liked the guy as I enjoy really all the personalities on Majic. I'll bet it wasn't a local decision. It's a shame that listeners are just expected to take a blow to the tummy when favorites just disappear. It's a shame.Eric, best of luck! From a fan who listened to you even back in A1A days!
