Brat Camp

Did anyone catch the two-hour premiere of Brat Camp last night on ABC? I can't stand most reality shows, but I was intrigued by this one and its concept. Time to get some of these nasty teenagers that are running around whipped into shape.

Nice idea, but...

Waaaaay too much of the "reality" is staged for our supposed viewing pleasure.

On the subject of ABC, has anyone noticed that the 2nd hour of GMA has become nothing more than a marketing platform for ABC's reality shows? It is such a strange juxtaposition to go from relatively straightforward news/talk content (much of which has been quite serious lately) to crap about "Dancing With the Stars" or "Brat Camp". The 8:00 hour is really dumbed down.

It is a total shame, as it has the effect of cheapening Charlie and Diane - both of whom are solid news professionals.

Naturally, the crying fits, temper tantrums, and verbal
confrontations are going to be there--in abundance. They
make good "television." But, having dealt with more than
my share of kids like these in classrooms, I hope a few
parents investigate this camp and, maybe, send their kids
there.

Boston Area Radio Guy, you've stumbled on another great suggestion!

We can also make them into Trumps!

Who can then use their power to get rid of obnoxious reality shows (but then again, there are a few reality shows that are really quite good. "Brat Camp" isn't one of the good ones). They go to the producers of these shows, look at them in the eyes, and say...."You're Cancelled!".

Maury Povich was doing these boot camp shows for years, till he switched to DNA testing for slutty women and deadbeat dads
______________

I thought it was an interesting show. Turned out that someone I went to school with was on the show; Shawn. I didn't know him to exactly be like that a couple years ago.
______________

SALLY was the queen of boot camp. Remember Sgt. Julu?

And who can forget Jenny Jones when Raymond Moses was on there.

Will you accept these thorns instead of roses?

Re: This is just a Maury Povich

Didn't Maury Povich pick up "the boot-camp thing" after Sally was cancelled??

I think both shows were from the same production company.

Yes. BTW both talkers did the teen boot camp shows at the same time. But "Maury" hasn't done one in 3 years.

Nothing new there. Brat Camp is nothing more than what Sally Jesse and other talk shows have been doing for years. Hell, Joe "Baseball Bat" Clark turned up waving a bat on several of these shows at least 10 years ago sending unruly teens off to boot camp. Boring.

The difference here is that this is major network stuff, and, surprise surprise, a lot of these people have their own agents, so we can expect them to show up in commercials and everywhere else by fall. The drama, as with any reality show, in enhanced for your convenience. The only thing this shows is that there is still a major stooopid set of Americans that will watch this swill.

Where have you been? :) The morning shows have been whoring the entertainment division product for years. All eighteen viewers of the CBS Morning show are forced to endure castoffs from Survivor, et al. They all do this - one of the many reasons I don't watch any of them.

When these stories run out, it will be back to missing white people.

And that's ALL HE DOES. Weeks pass and I flip past Maury and ... yup, more DNA testing. South Park had these shows down right. The thrill is long gone.
