Braves Announcers

I've always been spoiled by how exceptional the Braves announcers are. They seem to have that blend of professionalism and 'gift of gab' that seems lacking in so many other major markets.

And I'm more than impressed by how well Tom Glavine is fitting in as a color guy and I'm thrilled hearing him on the air. He seems right at home and like his counterparts, seems able to easily provide a balance of stats, facts and professionalism with some real, casual banter. Good job, Tommy! Hope he's part of the Braves broadcast team for many, many more years to come.

I think Jim Powell is fantastic. Hope he lasts longer than Boog Sciambi who was also very good.

WOW!!! I had forgot about Jim Powell being with the Braves... I was not a big Brewers fan, but would listen to him call the games just because I could follow along with his Play By Play... When you are blind radio is the best way to still listen to the games... CC1

I hope you guys are not forgetting the perfect announcing crew. Skip, Pete and Ernie. The guys on the air now can't hold a candle to those guys. Thanks to the wonderfulness that is MLB and Clear Channel, I can no longer hear the Braves' games on the radio, but I do have memories of listening to Skip, Pete and Ernie on WSB in my younger days.

Bengals fan, why not plunk down a few dollars and listen via Gameday Audio? Also, if you know where to look, you can listen for free.

CC doesn't own 680 The Fan or Rock 100.5, the current home of the Braves. That would be Dickey Broadcasting and Cumulus. They outbid both CC (who didn't pony up the scratch) and Cox (who didn't want to offer an AM/FM deal for the money being discussed).

If WGST ever lands on an FM signal again, it would be interesting to see what CC might do to get the Bravos back.

WOW!!! I also spent a many of nights board oping braves games and Skip, Pete, Don, and Ernie were amazing to listen to. I lived for the braves games... Lot of people hated running the games, but for me I loved board oping the games. During the lean years and then the years where they were winning... I loved it all. Skip was priceless as he would tell it like only Skip could... CC1

Not gonna happen. I'm not giving professional sports any more money than I have to. MLB and Fox have screwed everything up. For some reason they think I want to watch the Reds just because I live up here....and to watch the team I have watched and supported all my life I have to pay extra? Screw 'em. I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Same here. A couple of stations I worked at had TVs in the control room. Microwaving TBS didn't have as much of a delay as there is now and you could listen to the game and watch it. My problem, I'd get so into the game, I'd forget to roll the local breaks!

LOL been there and done that... Was not paying attention one night and poof here comes the GA lottery commercial... about a minute later here came the phone call LOL CC1

As an adjunct to this thread, does it bother anyone else everytime you hear the promo featuring Chipper Jones saying:

"I'm proud to be a part of Braves country, and there's a certain amount of pride that goes along with that...."

Well no.... duh!

This would belong in the "Department of Redundancy Department"
