BRAVES OVER PIRATES IN 19TH INNING !!!

....been watching on SportSouth....forever

This is the longest Braves game (in time) in Braves history and Pirates history.
**AND THEY STOLE IT! In the replay the umpire was TIRED, Lugo was OUT
instead of safe at home.

**Braves 4 Pirates 3

Here's a list of the longest games ever (and there are a lot)

A Braves victory ending after 19 innings? ???

The only thing missing is the 4th of July fireworks. ::)

What time did the game end? I gave up at 12:30 EDT this morning. It was in the 15th. First Major League game I've watched this year, and it had to be that one.

It's worth watching this blown call. Of course ESPN is all over it. It looks (the camera shot from over the shoulder of Ump Jerry Meals) that Pirates catcher Michael McKenry tagged Braves Julio Lugo on the leg. Camera from center field (opposite side of Meals) caught McKenry tagging Lugo's lower leg. Plus this happened a few feet from home plate, not directly over.

This definitely will start another round of Instant Reply talks.

It might be needed, but I can't see baseball going for the instant replay. So much of
the game seems to be subjective of the officials. The Pirates manager really gave it
to the umpire!!!

There was some little 8 year old girl way out in left field with a schreechy voice that
yelled LET'S GO PIRATES every 30 seconds for many innings. They should at least
give her some free tickets. You could hear her almost as good as the announcers. I think
some of the players even wished they had ear plugs.

This guy had what looked like 300 Coke or popcorn cups stacked together and was
running through the stands. I guess things get a bit loco after about 5 hours.

Lugo steps on the plate like he knew he was out........priceless. ;D

I just watched the replays with the calls synched from both TV ends first and then the radio calls. While the calls from the Braves wanted to show the joy and excitement with the win, even they agreed that the call was blown. Shouldn't MLB have instant replay in place for times like this?

Instant replay, or players with integrity.
Lugo probably got a game ball for "scoring" the winning run. Kinda like a blue ribbon for participating. That's "half a win" in itself. The blown call is just rounding up to a full one.
