Break The Ice...new music on Hot 99.5/WIHT Wash DC

nd2023

Banned
I was listening to Hot 99.5 yesterday and heard a promo for Britney Spears' "Break The Ice", and it said that it was new music! It's understandable when CHR stations say that a dance hit 6 months ago is "new music", but Break The Ice has been playing for months on CHRs across the country. I'm really hoping that it was a glitch in the automation system.

Seriously? Stop being a radio person.

Listeners have no clue what's going on in the national radio scene, nor do they care. They only care about what's going on "live and locally," something radio people are so desparate to hold onto, and yet never actually know how to execute.

Anyway...it probably IS new music to most in DC. Don't imagine there was a rush for every other station in the market to play it.

"Glitch in the system"

LOL

According to their 7 Day on Mediabase, they have played the song a total of 186 times and they have 100% of the market airplay on the single. That's still new to the listener.

Your point? Consider Hot 99.5 has not had as much success with Britney as much as other large market stations. Consider the MD is smart for not adding the song so early and the record flops in their P1 which in turn accounts for lower TSL. Consider they could've been waiting for research. Consider they played Piece of Me and it researched horribly. Consider Hot 99.5 is usually slow when adding most records, and it works for them. There's plenty of reasons why Hot decided to hold off this record in the beginning and likely a smart reason.
