Breakaway / M-Audio 192 - Settings 'drift'...?

Been having a weird issue the last couple of days.

It seems the M-Audio 192 (modded) card running breakaway is drifting out of whack. What I mean is that I'll set all the processing, get it sounding good..then a day or two later it gets all out of whack and everything begins to get extremely over compressed sounding. Even stranger, I went up to the tower lastnight and found that the Left channel audio in / out is much lower than the right. Must be an issue coming out of the barix right? Wrong. All is fine there.

Could it be that the Sound Card is out of tweak? Has anyone every experienced this before? This JUST happened...never had a problem before.

Yes I did read you message carefully ;D
But: have you tried bypassing both Barix and input of the M-Audio by using VLC and breakaway Pipeline?

Aren't you the guy with the computer at the tx site locking up, AND the problem with the Barix boxes and STL system, AND the problems with your remote controller, AND problems with your translator, AND problems with your processing, ect.....

No disrespect intented sir, but looking at your many posts on this forum, perhaps you are a little over your head as the engineer of your station. Dont get me wrong, the many professionals who lurk on this board are obviously ready and willing to help if they can, but may I suggest you seek out an experienced broadcast engineer in your area and have him give your station the once over. I am sure he would he happy to point you in the right direction at the very least, or help you get a handle on the issues you are facing and perhaps mentor you as you get your station working and sounding good. Management/owners should support this because it sounds like some problems affect the quality of your broadcasts, and others, such as the remote control, may put you afoul of some FCC rules.

Many of us have been where you are but without the internet ;) to fall back on (showing my age). I wish you well.

Yes Nostalgia, you are correct.

You can say we've had our fair share of issues...

- Faulty Barix Encoder 100 from distributor (remedied with new one).
- 5 ghz STL interference from local WISP (remedied with dedicated link)
- 'Bricked' remote control bought used (remedied after sending to factory)
- Issues with PC locking up at TX site (remedied w / new RAM)
- Issues with Translator interference (remedied after filing complaints)
- Issues with processing (remedied - faulty audio card)

But again, you didn't have the luxury of the internet at your disposal... how did you learn? Assumeably from a local engineer (i don't have that luxury). What say you?

Richard-

I am seriously going to consider this method. Not quite sure how to stream 'live' though from VLC....I understand how it works with audio files stored locally, etc. But getting liev audio into the PC --> VLC has me thinking. Does it allow somehow to be a bridge for 'live' streaming?

Way you go Duckfan!! proud of you. You'll get it all figured out.Just take time and trial and error sometimes.Highly suggest Marian trace alpha card for breakaway.

Second that motion.

Most of these issues Duckfan has are related to today's technology.

Even if there was an engineer in his area...he would have better luck getting local help from someone with an IT background. Just sayin'.

Good for you, duckfan!

Really recommend the Marian Trace Alpha.

If you are intent on keeping (or have to keep) the M Audio card, uninstall, reinstall the drivers.
