Breakaway VS Stereo Tool

I haven't tried ST in awhile, much less on the air...but I do own the declipper. And I like it. A lot.

Richard, can you tell me how you have your BBP configured to use Hans' declipper?

I may give ST another chance, based on what I have recently heard. I'm comparing/coming from an Omnia6exi, when I say that Breakaway handles voice immaculately.

Right now, Breakaway is by far the best processor I have at my disposal, but an O.9 is in the budget. :)
I simply use the DeClipper plug-in in BBP,, works like a charm.
I would really love to find the right multiband expander to get even closer to Undo ;)
Question : Is there any benefit to using the DeClipper with an Oldies format where the music has little if any clipping to undo?

I would keep it on, as when it's running and there is dynamic material going through it, it's smart enough to leave it alone. But, when there are agency spots, and even some local ones, that are smashed, it can open them back up and keep it consistent with the sound of the radio station. I use one on a primarily talk with some music format, and some of the talk is sourced from other places... fixes some of those mistakes too.

In this case, there are no commercials and BBP is being used. This would require purchasing the plug in. From the sound of it, music from the "pre-clipped" era would not benefit greatly from it.

On the comment about the downward expander, try the "Rusticity '83 OB" preset. It seems to have some downward expansion as well as gain freeze in it. I run it with the Range and Power at 100 and the speed at 0. Good combination of processed and "open" sound. No sucking up noise at all.

Depends on if any of your source material has been remastered.

The vast majority of remasters have been subjected to the modern smashatorium.

Elton John, Boston, and CCR..I am looking at you!
