To me, morning radio means inviting a group into your life during the busiest and possibly most stressful part of your day. You need the information and for some reason radio thinks you need to laugh even though it's the one part of your day you're least likely to be amused. So let's envision a scenario where you go into a restaurant for breakfast and each table is occupied by one entire Providence morning show team. There's an empty seat at each table and you have a choice as to which group to join. Where do you sit?
PRO-FM: Good choice. Likeable personalities who are funny without sounding like stand-up comic wannabees. Down to earth. Radio people or not, they sound like they go through the same things in life that you do. You wouldn't feel unfomfortable or out of place. Probably the best all around choice.
B101: A close second for the same reasons. Maybe a good choice for an audience slightly older.
HJY: High marks for entertainment but you might feel self conscious here. It would be a more stressful breakfast and you would definitely feel like you're dining with the stars. Johnny Skidmarks would probably end up saying something that would cause you to lose your appetite and you never know when stunt boy Kevin might come running in with a strip of bacon hanging from his ear so you'd probably eat fast here, say very little, and scoot. A good entertaining choice but you wouldn't feel like you're in the real world and would wonder what they said about you after you left.
Lite Rock 105: Not much pro or con here with a two-person show. A little chit chat then you're gone wondering if Jones really wanted you there. OK for just juice, muffin, and coffee but don't linger too long.
WCTK: These two sound like they should be waiting on tables rather than eating there but if nothing else there's no radio star pretense so you'd probably feel comfortable.
Coast: Never mind. Skip breakfast and come back for lunch when the place isn't as crowded.
Hot 106: An order of pop culture and instead of conversation you can text msg each other. I'd skip it but some would probably kill to be there.
