At noon today, Sunny 104.5 and Smooth Jazz 106.1 will go dark as Clear Channel Radio prepares for changes at the two stations.

Clear Channel confirmed that WJJZ-FM (106.1) - longtime home of Dave Koz, David Sanborn and Spyro Gyra - will become "Philly's 106.1" with a format known in the trade as rhythmic adult-contemporary. It's billed as an uptempo mix of music aimed at adult women. (Sample: Michael Jackson's "Rock With You," Rihanna's "Unfaithful," Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie," and Madonna's "Sorry.")

Philly's 106.1 also will get comedian Whoopi Goldberg's new syndicated weekday morning show. It starts at 5 a.m. Monday.

Clear Channel, the nation's largest radio operator, is not expected to disclose its plan for 104.5 until next week, at the earliest.

In the meantime, the new 106.1 signal will be simulcast on 104.5.

Sunny has played:

"Changes" by David Bowie
"Sundown" by Gordon Lightfoot
"Sunshine" by Johnathon Edwards
and
"Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" by Elton John in the past 15 minutes. Bye bye Sunny!

Does anyone have the 3rd and 5th to last song that appeared on WJJZ, I am trying to compile a list but was flipping over to WSNI at that time

12PM Hour

Black Eyed Peas - Let's Get it Started
2 Unlimited - Get Ready For This
Michael Jackson - Wanna Be Startin' Something
Madonna - Into The Grove
Will Smith - Gittin' Jiggy Wit It
KT Tunstall - Black Horse and a Cherry Tree
LaBelle - Lady Marmalade
Nina Sky - Move Your Body
Blondie - Call Me
Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock - It Takes Two
The Pointer Sisters - I'm So Excited
Next - Too Close
Kelly Clarkson - Because of You
Salt-N-Pepa - Push It

All I can say is...WOW...I love this new station! And I can't wait for Whoopie to come next Monday! I wonder what 104.5 will broadcast once things get situated. I'm just SO HAPPY that Philly now has SOME sort of dance station! Yipee!

More info on the playlist can be found at www.yes.com :)

"Don't Let the Sun go down on Me" Some one called it back in 2002

I remember when Alice first flipped to Sunny someone on this board jokingly wrote that Sunny would play Elton John's "Don't Let the Sun go Down on Me" when it it's self flipped to another format down the road. Four years latter we know that that person hit the nail right on the head. If that person is still on the board I would like to hear from you.

What was the last song played on Alice? I liked that station when I used to work in Philly.
