BREAKING GNUS: AL HART, 81, RETIRES FROM KCBS

Al Hart's final KCBS show is Wednesday, 1/7, during John Madden's 8:15 a.m. segment...

Hart, after 42 years at KCBS, will be missed...

Al Hart's legacy is one of a true gentlemen and a great, legendary broadcaster. I suspect the Wednesday morning Madden get-togethers helped him transition into retirement, especially in also coping with his wife's passing. And they have been more or less enjoyable over the years too. However, I do think the time is right to call it a day. I have spent several uncomfortable moments in recent months listening to the Bunger/Madden/Hart/Bitker banter. Those who listen to the broadcast regularly know to what I'm referring.
