Breaking (Herald): Barnicle takes himself out of running!!

Herald: "Greater Media, Inc. announced today that after much discussion, Mike Barnicle has decided to remove himself from consideration for the vacant morning show host opening on 96.9 FM Talk-WTKK in Boston. The decision was based on Barnicle’s contractual obligations with NBC Television and his upcoming commitments pertaining to the 2008 presidential election."

He'll continue to host the morning show till a permanent host is announced.

You really think that Hibernian Boston is going to hire a Black man for a prime time radio program. Just look up and down the dial and see how white it is. Then again, perhaps you meant Kenny "Muck" Myers and not Jimmy Myers.
Don't be surprised if Howie Carr ends up at 96.9 as sad and horrendous as that thought may be. Remember this is radio where all executives come out of the sales department and have the programming sense of a bottle of aspirin.

I would be surprised if it was Howie: or Jimmy for that matter. They should make an offer to Dennis(contract up in Sept?). I'm not saying he'd take the job but it would shake things up and bring a combo of RW angry-man rant and the Red Sox.

Michael Holley... although that's 10-2. Big Show has some African-American co-hosts... but, yeah, not a lot of African-American talk hosts in Boston.

I like Jimmy but he'd never get the gig. He's never lasted long on any station. I know he was on WBZ for a fair amount of time but burnt himself out of WEEI very quickly, if I remember.
