BREAKING NEWS! Americas Finest makes its moves! Web pages Revamped!

It's happened...
The websites have been revamped. As of last night, the Clear-channel logo was still prominant on the Z90 page, and all 3 pages were aligned to the left. But that is all HISTORY!

All 3 stations have BRAND SPANKIN' NEW WEB PAGES, with Listen-promised (91X's is already active). Also, you'll notice 91X's web page has a more Adult Alternative motif, suggesting the station is going in a more adult direction.

See? Who says ther's nothing to talk about?

I see they have Liquid Compass handeling the streaming for 91X. I assume it will be the same for Z90 and Magic as well.

Yes all they need to do now is get rid of the 13 year olds talking about anal warts on Loveline and they are there!

I also see on the new webpage that 91X New Years 'Big Night Out' has moved from Qualcomm to the Sheraton. They also claim the venue is bigger. Doesnt the ball room hold 1500 people at the most? Sure the whole Sheraton property may be larger and they have a bunch of smaller rooms that hold a couple hundred each, but I don't see the Sheraton holding the capacity that Qualcomm did. Kind of has a "washed up band playing at the Sheraton on New Years" vibe about it. There are night clubs that hold more people then the Sheraton does. Dont get me wrong, the Sheraton is nice...but its a hotel. My friend had his kids batmitvah there.

Then again, I am looking at the line up and it doesn't seem that that bill would be able to fill Qualcomm. Plus the way they have it all written out on 91Xs site, it kind of comes across like a rave flyer. "Rooms of this and that" "Tents" "Casino Areas"...it sounds like rave flyer hype. And you know what useually happens with raves, you get there only to find out they put 1500 people in a room and apologize for not being able to do what was promised on the flyer. "Oh you know, the management kind of screwed us over with the tents and casino areas, somthing about the fire marshall...balh blah blah"

What happened to 'Americas Finest First City' making things better for 91x? Almost makes you wish for the good old days of Clear Channel.

Thurnderballl...

If you wish to bash 91X, please do it in a separate thread. You know that my thread had nothing to do with bashing 91X, it was about America's Finest taking over their stations, making changes, and updating their web pages.

And, for everyone else, let me make it clear, I have no ax to grind with any San Diego radio station or company (including 91X)

Tomato, tomata...
(But you're right, sorry...)

Is this what it's come to, people getting jacked up about
new web-sites. Boys, time to find a new hobby. Thunderball
actually is a good counterpoint to Garrett. But Ball, why
all the gloom on 91X?. I really have to laugh at certain
LA radio website, that pretends that some Metro traffic
reporter or news-reader actually works for
the station, and are actually part of the long tradition
of LA radio stars. It's a hoot.

Loveline is a syndicated program, and it sure hasn't hurt KROQ in Los Angeles any, where it has aired for something like ten years.

It will now be up to the new management to determine whether or not the program is compatible with whatever demo they are targeting on 91X.

BTW, if the tone of Thunderball's ranting sounds familiar, it is because he is none other than the previously-obnoxious "fearfactor". So take his words with the appropriate grains of salt.<P ID="signature">______________

I don't have an ax to grind with 91X. You mentioned their web page, I checked it out. Saw somthing on there so I had some questions and comments about the 'Big Night Out' moving from Qualcomm to a hotel. Seems like whatever the name of the new ownership is has already slipped quite a bit.

I just wonder what these bands think. "Hey Bravery, your big gig at Qualcomm on New Years has been moved to a new venue. Its a hotel downtown."

To me that is big news. Especially with ownership just changing hands. Lets you know what direction the company is going in. More so then the $50 bucks they spent on redesigning a webpage.

But Ball, why
> all the gloom on 91X?.

No gloom. Just pointing out somthing that might be very telling of the direction 91X is headed under new ownership.

From Qualcomm to the Hilton. Days Inn booked?

Thank you I ll be appearing at the Sheraton on New Years Eve...theres a 2 drink minimum. Dont forget to tip your waitress.

Let's do a lil radio 101, shall we?

Radio stations are advertising vehicles for advertisers.
With that said...

Big Night San Diego is produced by Hiball Events (dba Events with Purpose, dba Big Night America, dba Big Night San Diego), a company out of Virginia that produces New Years celebrations in Baltimore, Washington DC and San Diego.

They are a paid advertiser on 91x... Just like they are on KHTS, just like they are on Fox 6. Add CityBeat magazine to the mix, along with VAVI Sport & Social club, and you see there's more to the event than you're alluding to.

Next time you should do a lil homework on who is who and what is what before you try and demean the crew at Finest City.

The Answer: The thread was not about opinions of a Major promotion, get a clue.

The company?
I don't care about your opinion of "the company."
You turned a thread about web site changes into a rant about "the company."

And, as I asked before make your comments in a new thread, and leave me out of it.

You brought up the site. I talked about info posted on the site.

> The company?
> I don't care about your opinion of "the company."

Yes. You seem to not want to talk about anything if its not what you want to hear. I smell a 'yes man'. You would be perfect in San Diego radio.

> You turned a thread about web site changes into a rant about

You talked about the new 91X site. I looked at it and noticed the promotion on the website. Had a question and some comments about it. That is all.

>

You brought up the website. It was information posted on the same website you brought up. thanks for pointing it out.

Here we go again...so ok..."wow, I think their use of the powder yellow on the 91X website makes so much more of a difference then the gold color on the old one. Yes they must be going in a whole new direction with this powder yellow thing. San Diego radio is cutting edge again with powder yellow. Powder yellow is the new pink!"
