Well, stick a fork in WRKO's talk programming: they're done! The 10 people who listen to the felon will jump ship, afternoons will be empty too. Basically they have Rush and the Red Sox. In smaller markets, that might be enough - but in Boston, NO. Howie was WRKO's last signature personality.

Earth to Entercom - time for Julie Kahn to be transferred......to a Dunkin' Donuts in Brockton! Then again, she would probably manage to put a DD's out of business too! LOL! ;D

What is most interesting about this is that it gives WRKO the chance to really look at themselves, figure out who they are, and implement the changes they need to make in order to fulfill the need. It actually is a great opportunity for them, if you think about it.

I wish I could insert graphics here, because it would be a picture of the Titanic. Its actually sad that RKO is almost under water, but they brought it upon themselves. Having listened for decades, the downfall has been almost painful at times, but the sad reality is that Entercom just drove them into the ground and the backlash of the Howie news is joy in mudville. The're truth in the phrase ' What goeas around comes around" and with any luck, it will result in Julie Kahn and Jason Wolfe practicing the following phrase- Would you like to supersize that? -

I stopped drinking ten years ago..until now. I have hoisted several for the powers that be at WTKK.. Great Move. Howie has helps put the nail in the coffin at WRKO.

Sad as it is...cuz, untill just last October, WRKO could have and easily been a blockbuster. Look for Entercom to start paid programming soon. Anything to make a buck.

It's just a shame that Kahn and Wolfe are still there. They took at 50 KW mega station and killed it. I wonder if that will ever appear in any of the trades.

Let's see..they fired the entire news staff and DePetro, then canned Scotto and now Howie leaves. That leave what ??? A MEGA-MULTI-MILLION $$ nut to meet, to pay the Red Sox. Great management. !!

Now the only thing to watch for is when Clear Channel/Premier Radio Network takes their boy Limbaugh to WKOX at 50kw.

You know, I forgot about that! Now that WRKO has truly tanked, Premier could easily decline the renewal of Rush and send it over to WKOX. However, before that can happen, deals can be made. For example, the cheapskates at Entercom could easily plop Hannity in the 3 to 6 slot. He's very pale when compared to Howie but hey, his show could be cheaper than hiring real talent and could be parlayed with Rush for a package deal.

Either way, WRKO is headed down the crapper!

To echo so many posts: I wonder if credit will be given where it's due. After all, destroying a successful 50kw within about 18 months is quite a feat indeed.
