BREAKING NEWS!...Star 102.5 sold in Buffalo

I think Audacy is plotting on Moving star to another signal. It wouldn’t take them this long to make an announcement if they were dumping the station

I think the fact that it's not in Audacy Atlas may indicate that they're keeping the station and likely the format.

Is Hot AC so weak musically (like CHR) and/or so similar musically to CHR that Buffalo could conceivably go without a station in the format? I look at Springfield, MA, and see a market that shuns CHR but has both a standard and a Hot AC. Could Buffalo become a market with a CHR and a soft-ish AC but no Hot AC?

Hot AC, Tepid AC, Lukewarm AC, etc.. They all share some of the same traits and titles. After the sale of STAR, Audacy Buffalo will have only one full power FM. They could rebrand KISS as STAR or simply tweak the CHR format. That would be IF Audacy plans on staying in Buffalo. Bare minimum effort and expense will be applied no matter the outcome...

Honestly, outside of morning drive, it's hard to tell the difference between KISS and STAR. So a tweak of the KISS playlist might be all that's needed.

I have good friends who own stations in Olean. They said that WLKK and 104.7 is being sold. It does not matter what’s in Atlas. This is already in the works. They said it is not a star like format with a new owner

They are planning on selling the stations and exiting many medium markets, including Buffalo.

It seems reasonable to surmise that if Audacy was willing to sell STAR, they are planning an exit from Buffalo. The remaining stations can't help them get out of their crushing debt. The 3 AM stations, KISS and 107.7 could get sold piece meal. The potential buyers for those must be a very short list...

It seems like audacy is more interested in staying in Memphis than buffalo. Do you think they will sell their Greensboro stations?
Memphis is a PPM market; Buffalo is not. They may be sticking to the top 50 markets, which are also the PPM markets.
