BREAKING NEWS: Whoopi Off KTU

It appears the sun has set for good on "Wake Up With Whoopi".

References to her show have all but been removed from WKTU's website, and if you scroll over their "on-air" personality menu, the rollover list does not mention Whoopi, though it does list her on-air partner Paul "Cubby" Bryant first by default. One would wonder if he would get the morning shift all to himself on 103.5... Or even better - how about Hollywood and Goumba?

Here's the official word from the New York Daily News:

(Excerpt) "A memo circulated to the WKTU staff late yesterday said the station will stop carrying Goldberg's nationally syndicated show as of this morning."

Whoopi will likely continue her role on "The View"; in fact, some speculated the future of her radio show upon joining the Barbara Walters midday ABC roundtable show.

In the meantime, according to the site, "now playing" at this time is "Bartel".

By the way - good timing on CC's part to can Whoopi on the day she's scheduled to do a show at the Count Basie Theater... whoops!
 
Heard Whoopi as a guest on the WOR morning show. she said she won't be getting up early any more. So what's with the syndicated radio show feed by Premiere? will they feed "best of Whoopi" shows or what? and now it seems both KTU and Z100 are going after PLJ.

Would make sense for Cubby to return to the afternoon drive he used to do well on at Z100 before jumping to mornings with Whoopi... Has this been confirmed?

If anything her show is doomed given the layoffs and cutbacks going on at Clear Channel.

BTW this story has gone national. The Daily News item referred to up top is on the entertainment page of Fark.com.

And you gotta love them headlines on Fark, like for this story:
"NYC morning radio: now with less Whoopi"

Also the comments section on Fark for this story is a must-read - including an unapologetic bashing of Scott Ferrall from left field!
 
I can promise you Scott and Todd are NOT coming to Z100. Elvis Duran and the Morning Zoo is number one in New York mornings. Also they are doing well in Miami as a syndicated morning show. They have not yet made a move to add additional markets for syndication. As for Cubby he will stay at WKTU to do Saturdays. Z100 has a contract with JJ Kincaid for now.
 
I wish Cubby would Just come back to Z100 5 o'clock whistle on fridays

Whoopi was flagshipped out of WKTU, they even started the show there before launching the national syndication. They have many studios, I'm sure Whoopi is using one and the other show is using another.
 
Whoopi since day one has done her show from a studio at Power. She did not want to commute to NJ.

She continues to do her show from WWPR
