BREAKING: Whitney Houston dead at 48

So sad to loose her. When I was little my grandma said when people with connection die they leave by sets of 3. We've lost Don,now Whitney and I hope that ol' saying isn't true. Im sure lots of radio DJ's and live club broadcast will be spinning her hits tonight.

Another urban AC staple has passed away this evening. Cause of death is unknown at this time.

I would call her a 'across-the-board' urban music staple. She got love from urban stations that weren't limited in musical scope of audience like KMEL, WVEE, WPGC, KPRS, etc. even when she dropped her last album "I Look to You" in 2009.

Here in Atlanta, V-103 has foregone on doing their usual Saturday night live mix or club broadcast tonight of contemporary to air Whitney Houston classics and contemporary hits mixing...

Meanwhile, WPGC is doing an on-air mix of the club mixes of Whitney classics as of 10PM after airing the album or radio versions of hits for the past 2 hours..

Actually, Whitney was the 3rd one. First it was Etta James, then Don Cornelius, and now it is Whitney Houston.

Kila, you are so right! OMG so sad.

Interestingly, now CHRurban WPGC is going all Whitney music all day today. They included her gospel-inspired hits this morning instead of their 2-hour "Sunday Morning Inspiration" gospel and inspirational music show. This makes me proud that PD Jason Kidd is honoring her because WPGC was one of the few stations that did give nearly all of her singles and B-side songs over the past 25 years airplay.

I thought that this old "death comes in threes" b.s. had gone the way of the wind. When a celeb dies, do we leave that "window of opportunity" open until two more die? It's been nearly two weeks since Cornelius' death, and probably at least that long since Etta James' death.

By the way, didn't see any tributes to Cornelius or Etta James on the grammies last night.

The first musical performance that I saw was a Etta James tribute... Bonnie Raitt and Alicia Keys singing "A Sunday Kind Of Love." LL Cool J referenced Don Cornelius' passing later in the show.

I should clarify: when they did their segment on those who have passed on since last year's grammies, James and Cornelius were not pictured. At least, if they were, I missed it.

They were omitted from that segment.

Makes you wonder how far in advance they produced that portion...

You may be on to something. Houston was tacked on to the very end of that segment.

FIREPOINT: I Dont think they meant any harm. Actually, i grew up witb the same saying. Not only that but working in critical care and emergency for 26 years its also said very often in the hospital by all races. Unfortunately is usually true although its probably coincidence. Anyway i loved Whitney and may God take her into his kingdom and give her peace.

Or the fourth if you consider Johnny Otis.

Cause of death not certain; however, she was underwater in the bathtub, which leads me to an either/or scenario. To get her up and going, thinking she was just passed out before a party her staff put her in the tub to wake her up while coffee was on.

Underwater, if that was her real hair length and she was in a jacuzzi, maybe the machinery grabbed her hair, pulled her under and she couldn't holler for help. Just a theory that no one has thought of yet...except me.

This site is to be commended for the fine comments On Whitney Houston, it's disgusting what has been posted in other places about her. She was someone's daughter, someone's mother and had many friends and fans...... I can feel their pain,

My baby , my daughter, my only child of 41 years died hours after Whitney, she was a phenom on two wheels, and my life will never been the same from this day forward. Ironically my daughters formidable years where at the height of Whitney's carreer, and Whitney's music played a big part in my daughters life. Some of Whitneys music will be included in my memorial to my talented and beautiful daughter. My daughter suffered greatly for the last two years and I along with her, now we are both at peace. My priorities and values forever changed this weekend and my life is taking a new direction at the tender age of 65... I sign off Radio-Info for good , I have made many friends here and those that I may have offended , I apologize....Vincent D. Guillen Albuquerque,NM (aka Hornet61 and Palalwannabe) goodnight and goodbye.......I am turning off the little green light, as i logg off for good...Keep on Rockin'
