Brett Rushon (Brett Richards)

I am sure you have all heard by now of the passing of Brett Rushon (Richards). This was a man who gave his all to everything he did and loved music and the business of radio with his entire being (as well as The Red Sox). Brett was working at WODS and WZLX, including the shift before mine...but we met years ago and again while he worked at the South Shore Music Circus and Cape Cod Melody Tent. He always was on top of artist appearances, setting up interviews and following through on his words: a rare quality in our business.

I will miss Brett. It is so sad he did not know in life how much he was truly valued. Let's make sure we do not continue to make that mistake to the people in our lives today.

Happy 52nd birthday Brett. I truly hope you have the happiness you were seeking. Although filled with sadness at your passing, I will remember you fondly each time I play Quarterflash and the numerous other artists we chatted about.

Is this the same Brett Richards who was at WSPK (K104) Poughkeepsie in the early 90's?

Very sorry for the loss, for those who knew him. If anyone is putting together any kind of aircheck tribute, I did find this one of him on WKCI, KC101 in New Haven from 1981: http://www.sendspace.com/file/mtstxr

Unfortunately looks like I didn't catch any of him on WODS or WZLX, but I did certainly hear him on the air on both many times recently.

I guess he didn't know good he had it compared to others in the biz. I have to say I feel a bit guilty... I did not stay in touch with Brett though we worked together in NH. He always seemed to be putting something together. Guess it just wore him out. God Bless You Brett.

You can certainly learn more about Brett on his facebook page and on the memorial page listed above.
