Brevard County now has two new Oldies stations

Looks like the folks in Brevard County now have two new choices for Oldies radio. First, class A FM 98.5 WSBH out of Satellite Beach signed on in late November, 2006 and went oldies a few weeks later. They are currently running an automated GTGO format of music from the mid 1960's thru the 1970's with a local morning show.
Secondly, 5K 1560 WINT out of Melbourne recently changed formats from MOYL to Scott Shannons True Oldies, with a local morning show. This format of music from the late 1950's thru the early 1970's is also heard in Orlando on 810 WEUS. But unlike 98.5 WSBH, 1560 WINT has to sign off a few hours after sunset. And according to the FCC database there's no CP listed to stay on the air at night at all. I don't see why they could not stay on at maybe 30 or 40 watts at night, enough to cover Melbourne.

On a High end frequnecy like 1560, you'd really need about 250 Watts or mroe to get any useable, decent night time coverage. ANd to get 250 Watts, they'd probably have to add at least one more tower.

The cost of the added electricity, the cost of putting up a new tower doesnt make sense considering they probably couldn't bill very much in the overnight hours.

WINT, does have, a Post Sunset Authority(PSSA) of about 500 Watts which allows them to drop from 5KW at Local Sunset(LSS) to 500Watts for another 2 hours before completely signing off.

I don't know if they have a Pre Sunrise Authority, but if they did.. it'd most likely be for 500Watts from 6am to Local Sunrise.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read this on another radio message board on a ratings thread for another AM station. Arbitron bumps up the ratings a little bit for daytimers. In their last ratings book as an Adult Standards station, WINT didn't do too bad for a daytimer. They beat out four other 24/7 stations that serve the Space Coast in one way, shape or form.
